    Default These guys are flying............

Just a simple observation I have made in my training with my mentor so far is that it seems that Prime and US Xpress drivers break the posted speed limits quite often. I will be maintaining 65 mph and they will pass me like I'm standing still. Anyone that drives for them, are your trucks governed or not? Just curious. Thanks.

As far as I know, the Prime lease trucks are not governed, and I have heard rumors that some USXpress trucks are no longer governed due to warrenty issues with CAT.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Well they are from the show me and the speed limit is 70mph there, so you are going 5mph under the speed limit. All speed limits west of the Mississippi river, and in the southern states are higher than 65 mph. As a matter of fact most states speed limits are at least 65 mph. Just keep your newbie butt in the right lane where you belong and mind your own business!!! And Dawn, you don't even drive a truck, so keep up the good work fighting with Rev and Hobo and keep your mouth shut about how fast a driver goes!!! Your out of your area of expertize....lol.

Prime lease trucks are governed at 71. I know this because I just leased one and it's also what they told us at orientation. After so many months running safely (I can't remember how many) they will remove that restriction from the truck. Also keep in mind that many of the western states of a speed limit of 75, so if you're going 65, it WILL seem like they are flying by you.

Yeah my husband is from Indepence, Missouri and he was shown a fellow company driver on the I-90 rolled today. The guy more than likely took a curve too fast from what my husband saw. My husband said even though the speed limit is 65 you do not want to take some of those curves at 65.

So if he had slowed down or been wearing his belt he may still be around.

How about West Virginia and it's 70mph limits with some turns you don't want to take above 50...

As far as USXpress trucks being goverened, they must be (or the driver is running slow) because I pass them all day long in my 68mph truck.

Well regardless of what certain states speed limits are, the ones where I was getting passed by these trucks had a speed limit of 65, which is what I was doing. This means that these drivers were speeding significantly, which is dangerous. Our trucks are governed at 65 so I can't go over that even when the speed limit is 70. These guys were doing over 70 though, simple math would allow you to prove that.

You would be suprised how fast you can over take a truck running 5 MPH than they are. I know I do it all the time and I don't really run that hard.

Best thing I can tell you, is to worry about yourself and not what the other guy is doing! I bet your going to tell us you don't speed in your private vehicle! Don't do this because we will know you are a liar, so whats the difference, a law is a law! period!!

from all of my driving i compiled a list of who drives the fastest, 1st on the list.....

tankers with a flamable placard on the side (these guys win hands down)

next fastest is those pete's pullin flatbeds (they follow the flamable tanker)

3rd on the list is FedX pullin doubles (they are following them pete's)

all else is just trying to keep up with the big 3......
The only good thing about winning is ..... your first next to losing!
