from all of my driving i compiled a list of who drives the fastest, 1st on the list.....

tankers with a flamable placard on the side (these guys win hands down)

next fastest is those pete's pullin flatbeds (they follow the flamable tanker)

3rd on the list is FedX pullin doubles (they are following them pete's)

all else is just trying to keep up with the big 3......

How come I can't keep up with them rolling nukes? Oh, that's right! I want to keep my job for a while! HEHE! Silly me!

What about the owner-op parking lots? And the bull racks? And the guys hauling spread-axle reefers? What's the deal with spread-axle reefers anyway? Why do they need spread-axles?

my truck is too slow and always over 100000 gross. 8 axles. i just drive it because i go home every day. i wont drive a slow#ssed truck across the country so i can work more hours and still turn in legal logs.

Yeah, but why only reefers?! Why don't you seem them on dryvans, tanks, and parking lots? They're on just about every flatbed, but rare on anything else.

Just a simple observation I have made in my training with my mentor so far is that it seems that Prime and US Xpress drivers break the posted speed limits quite often. I will be maintaining 65 mph and they will pass me like I'm standing still. Anyone that drives for them, are your trucks governed or not? Just curious. Thanks.

i drive for USxpress and all new trucks are set at 65, us old timers get 68 and with the computer if we keep 6.6mpg we get 71. and we only do 71 in a 70 zone...!

you are driving for swift (mentor is a swift thing) and with a 65mph truck i can pass you all the time but i will tell you that if the sign said 65 i will be doing 67-68. oops i didn't say that.. and we still get passed by all the car's and alot of trucks.

you are new to trucking so after you have a few 100,000ml under your belt you will not need to ask. btw most swift trucks are set at 63 not 65. the spedo is off a little on most trucks when my spedo says 65 my gps says 67

How about West Virginia and it's 70mph limits with some turns you don't want to take above 50...

As far as USXpress trucks being goverened, they must be (or the driver is running slow) because I pass them all day long in my 68mph truck.

Well now I don't feel so bad. I was on 64 a few weeks ok in WV and those turns are really sharp. I was taking them at 50-55 because that is what felt safe and I had semi's flying around me at 65-70. It made me feel bad...I thought it was because of my lack of experience that I couldn't take those curves that fast. I guess I was the one being safe, and those guys are the ones you will see rolled over.

Don't feel bad. My husband knows another driver that rolled it in Chicago that works for Davis Transport. Or he use to. He was alright and they still kept him on until someone called him in for a running a red light.

The guy rolled it on a curve. Let the fools fly by you around the curves. If they want to risk it that is there foolishness. Just be safe that is the bottom line.

All speed limits west of the Mississippi river, and in the southern states are higher than 65 mph. As a matter of fact most states speed limits are at least 65 mph. what does it matter how fast everyone else is going. drive where you are comfortable, if the other guys passing you is upsetting then maybe you should loko to another job. people pass, people get passed, people speed, people drive slow. i get agravatted when a slow truck throws a hitch in my get along, but it is not really something to complain about in my off time.
