    Default I got fired today

    Today was my last day.

I received two tickets in Searchlight, Az. The first for 35 in a 25 and he gave me a warning for following too close.

Maybe Searchlight should have their signs more noticable. I was running down a 65 mph zone, as I was passing a big truck on my right, I saw the 35 mph sign. I started slowing down, but then a 4 wheeler pulled out in front of me.
As I was watching him and the traffic to my right, that's when the trooper must have saw me. 6 months and my first driving job is gone

I'm going to fight the tickets, but that didn't matter to the company. If they had just suspended me until the tickets are taken care of, this wouldn't have been a big deal. They told me I could reapply, but I told them that ain't gonna happen. I haven't had a ticket or accident in 20 years . I'm gonna hate looking for another job

    Guess I'm just a number...........sigh

Welcome to truck driving. You are going to learn that drivers with CDL are watch by more cops with little patience.

Get a lawyer to fight the tickets, and they might get them reduced considerablely.

You do need to leave as much room as posible, even when they cut in front of you. Too many *****hole slamming on the brakes for the truckers insurance payoff.

Good luck...and be alittle safer on the road.
Deja moo. It's when you feel you have heard this BS before.

Do you mean Searchlight, NV ???? That stretch of 95 is clearly marked in regards to the speed zones.

Here is my .02 cents , Dust yourself off, Call your Co. Tell them you are going to fight the tickets . Go to court with your Sunday best cloths on. Tell them your sad story and what it cost you, and what you have learned being out of work. I can almost Guarantee they will Drop the worst of the 2 you recieved and make you responsible for the lessor. It does not look like you are too busy. Do it if it means anything. Good Luck !!

The speed limit dropped quickly and the trucks on my right were blocking the signs. Speed limit dropped to 25 at the top of the hill. I overheard on the CB that were 3 bears with radar...after I was stopped.

I had no choice but to follow the 4 wheeler too close for a short period of time Just love it when they pull out in front of me .

I never see a 65mph zone go to a 35 without the speedlimit signs slowing in increments of 10mph, or "speed zone ahad" signs.

However, a big truck (semi?) easily could block 1 or more of the signs.

Signs blocked by trucks is how I got my ticket in north east oklahoma headed up the 69 north ...I was doing 60 mph and came under the 412 overpass and for about 1 mile there were trucks lined up anywhere they could fit on the shoulder of the 4 lane highway ,and suddenly I saw a 45 mph sign ...which I got slowed down to quickly then I saw a car pull out quickly behind and put on his lights ...turns out I was doing 60 in a 50 mph ...and missed the reduced speed ahead sign ...no jake sign...And the 50 mph sign ...only reason I saw the 45 is becasuse you can't park a truck close enough to block it ...Officer wrote me for 60 in a 50 ...I called the number on the $94.00 ticket and found out that the 10 mph over charge only carries 1 pt in oklahoma ...But for an extra $50.00 bucks the ticket will not exist if after 6months I do not receive another ticket in that county ...Which is unlikely as I'm well aware of the speed trap now ...nice little money maker they have , But when you have CDL and you get a ticket and they offer you the $50.00 deal you don't question it you just write the check

Sorry for your predicament...and sorry to be lecturing you, but there was a reason the other drivers were going slower....go with the flow and dont stand out. Fight the tickets like your wise neighbours here said. Good Luck

the warning for following too close is probably what did it, even if you beat the ticket, the company doesnt want to take a chance on you anymore, the insurance companies are really hard on this kind of ticket, our insurance company will no longer cover any driver who gets a tailgating ticket, the boss has no say about it.

Sorry to hear about your employment  Was there traffic right behind you as well? If so it sounds like you were going with the flow of traffic.

    Best Wishes to you!

I had the same problem when I was leased to C.R. England (no side comments please). I picked up a load in Southern California that was a "rush, rush" load. It was light and I was going faster than I should have been going down the Grapevine. The speed limit dropped as I was passing another driver and low and behold there was a state trooper. I got my ticket pretty quick and was on my way. The next day, I had a load going home so I was in a hurry to enjoy my time at home after my ordeal. I was in Oregon going through Jordan Valley up and down the hills and as I crested one hill, I saw a trooper and went to slow down. As he passed me I saw him in my mirror and he turned around and pulled me over. I fought the ticket in Oregon with a transportation type attorney and had to attend a defensive driving course and pay a fine. I paid the fine in California. I didn't lose my job but I cost an awful lot out of my pocket. Some companies will not hire you if you have to many tickets in a certain amount of time. Be honest with your company and keep an eye out until the drop off you license.
