Default Which company driver had the best year? $$$$$$$

It's that time of the year we are all getting our w-2's from our companies. How does your company measure up? Who do you drive for, how much did you make, and how many miles or hours did you work?
I think this would be good for new drivers to compare companies.

I work for UPS (package car).
    Made just over $71,000.00
    I work about 45 to 48 hours a week.
Been doing this full-time for 13 years. 8)

I knew someone would say that. I almost didn't put my numbers down, but then someone would have said I was hiding something. Can't win either way. That seems to be the nature of these boards sometimes. Have to find fault with something.

I believe it. About 15 years ago I looked into getting on with UPS doing package car work. Then the starting pay was about $18 an hour, and with 8-10 hours of OT each week would easily bring you into the 50,000 plus range per year.

After 13 years of raises and other increases I can see someone making 60-70,000 per year with no real issue there.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I know. Just funny, because I knew someone would bring it up.

I'm spoiled at UPS. My older brother is a pilot at Frontier and I make more than he does. He was doing great at Northwest and then 9-11 happened. Got laid off and then brought back. Had to take a 15% pay cut and then another 25% pay cut on top of that. After the 2nd pay cut my dad tells me that I'm make more than my brother. Wow that's a shock. Truck driver making more than an airline pilot. Then Northwest went chapter 11 and he was told he was going to get laid off again. He feels very lucky that he got a job at Frontier here in Denver. Lots of out of work pilots. He's only make around $45,000 right now. Will take several years before he catches up to me.

Love UPS even more than ever. I have lots of seniority the company is stable and no layoffs in site. At least I can sleep at night and not worry about getting laid off.

Yep and add no out-of-pocket expenses for health insurance to the mix. 401k and pension. Accrued personal and sick days. Home everynight and weekend.

    But unions are bad, right?

Wow, that sure caught my eye Brown! What type of aircraft does he pilot? I'm just assuming that Frontier is an air freight operation?

Couldn't log in to post reply as brown67 anymore. Something went wrong. Now I'm brown1967 (yes that's when I was born). Frontier is like SouthWest airlines. Based out of Denver and they fly small Airbus planes like the 737"s.

    Thanks

The Indianapolis UPS hub (at least one of them) is located near my terminal in NW Indy. In Indiana, there are vanity license plates for every interest from Breast Cancer, Purdue University, firemen, etc. I have noticed that UPS has their own Indiana license plate (with the UPS logo) on their trailers. The plates really look professional. Which (professional) is my personal experience with the UPS drivers that I circle around Indy at night with. Gary

I've seen those plates here in Colorado on some of our feeder trucks. I don't really know anything about them.

Hey Buster Brown. If you keep changing your name like that, you'll forever be in the Rookie category with me!! In your case, however, we might let you slide a little and call it "newer package truck driver."
