Default Watkins Shepard Training & School

Was talking today to a W/S training recruiter about their school. The school cost is $4,000 and after four weeks of schooling you go solo. The one thing that concerns me is that it's not an accredited school. What I'M wondering is if driving for W/S doesn't work out. Would I have to go to another school to satisfy a different companies requirements ?( as in one that hires school grads )?? I'm beginning to think W/S training / school might not be that wise of an investment. Anyone have any advice, sugestions or experience with W/S. Thanks for any Info.

Most schools are not accredited. As long as the course is at least 160 hours, you should be fine. W/S is a reputable company and you should have no problems if you need to change companies.

going solo after four whole weeks of school  there is a heck of a lot to learn then just how to drive a truck . if I were to start again i'ed go to a real school, then out with a trainer then solo.

rickll.........Yeah ... I'd think going with a trainer would be a bigger part of the education. Thanks for your opinion

Those that I have talked to who have gone through the W/S 30 day school say they are trained so well that you do not need a trainer to drive with for 4-6 weeks at minimal pay. I would rather be trained well by W/S and skip going out with someone that you do not get along with or is a poor trainer.

I attended Sage, just in case things didn't work out with the "company" I didn't want to be on the hook to them and then need more accredited school, as for the training then in the truck (10 days orientation for recent PTDI grads) they expect you to know how to drive but won't let you solo unless they're confident about your ability. It worked for me but some people may feel more comfortable with a trainer, of course there are problems with that as well.
