    Default CD Player in cab

Hello all, I had a quick question for you guys. I have a ton of CD's that I like to listen to, and I would really love to be able to listen to them when I start driving. I have heard/read that most trucks, even newer ones, don't come with a CD player built into them. My question is, would one of those CD/Tape adapters work well (without bouncing around and skipping a lot) or not?

If this wouldn't work, are there any simple alternatives without having to get a CD player installed? Would plugging a boom box into your 12V work well? I know this might sound stupid, but I would really hate to have all my CD's go to waste. Any advice here is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Buy a FM transceiver. It plugs into your headphone jack on your portable CD player and you then tune into a preset FM station to listen to your music. Some are battery powered and some have AC adapters. Go with the AC power or you will be buying a lot of batteries. Plus the signal is stronger with AC power.

Get yourself a CD player with a Tape Deck adapter. I had one for years and never had a problem. I would also suggest you get a power supply adapter.

You can get everything you need a Wally World. Shouldn't cost more than $30 for the whole thing.

I have been spending alot of time recently at my local KW dealer and had noticed that every truck had a cd player in it. I think it is becoming the "new" standard radio.

Thinking back when I ordered my new truck a couple of months ago, a cassette player was not even an option if I recall correctly.

    Default radio

Go to walmart and buy your self a cd player (In dash type) and install it. Most walmarts sell the adapter kits also so it is all easy to plug in. Remove the old one. Install the adpter plug, install new radio and listen to your cd's almost the cheapest way to go. They have cd players for 70 and the kit is 13 under 100 and you have the set up. plus if you switch trucks just remove your radio and install the factory radio.

but you need to get permission from somone in the shop or teminal to do this.
they can come back on you for not getting permission since you are messing with the electronics of the truck..

like TMC for instance will not allow you to install a CB in your truck. they already have one and do NOT want you messing with anything electronic or hard wired.

I haven't seen many Walmarts that sell adapters kits for BIG TRUCKS.

it will usually be at a stereo shop and listed as a universal harness. i will try and look one up and pos apic of it but tell them you need a unniversal plug. best buy has them, if there are any around you.

this is the link for your wire harness that should fit. it will fit volvo some freightliners and some KW. but this si usually the adapter you wll need. i have installed many decks in big trucks and this has proven to be the most popular[/img]

Your adapter would be fine if the company allows you to modify Their truck. Most companies want their service department to do any mods.

So the options you as a driver can do without the company's blessing is to either use a tape adapter or use a FM adapter. Which I prefer the tape adapter. Less chance of having FM interference.

Plus you don't have the cost of new AM/FM/CD player and your adapter.

I would suggest an iPod,you can put all your Cd's on the iPod and don't have to take them with you and have them lying all around the truck.

Just get a cassette adapter if truck has a cassette player or a fm transmitter if it has a cd player, plus you can download tv shows to your iPod and watch them at your leisure.

Also one plus of having all your music on the iPod is the shuffle featured, you can go all day and never hear same song again.

I probably will get a iPod someday, but I don't want to spend that kind of money on it just yet when I have all of these CD's that I would hate to see go to waste at a time when I could REALLY use them. And forget about wiring up the truck to replace the tape player with a CD player, I don't think I'm going to get into that stuff there. I just wanted to know if the CD/Tape adapter would be alright for me to use.

I think Internationals come with a CD player; there's an International shop here in Tifton, and I stopped to look at a brand new rig on display. It had that beige leather interior and... yes, a CD PLAYER.

For the City of Tifton I also drive a 2006 International street sweeper; it has a CD player, and works pretty good too. I just wish it had one of those systems in it (the kind that can makes the windshield rattle) You can't beat that surround sound.
