    Default Summer question

What is the best gear to wear during the summer when the temperature is in the high 90s or 100s?

I'm specifically interested in what flatbed drivers wear to tie down loads and tarp their freight . . . but I suppose bulk drivers, van drivers who have to unload and refrigerated truck drivers who unload, all face the same issue.

The boots and clothing I've gotten are OK for the Fall and Winter . . . but will steel toe workboots and blue jeans be OK in the Summer or do I need to plan on a different type of boot/shoe and different clothing?

Yeah . . . I didn't think shorts and cowboy boots would play well! Too much of the "San Francisco" look.

So, bottom line . . . whatever boots you wear, you wear year round?

The only hot weather experience I have to fall back on is the military and there you're issued leather boots . . . but . . . most voluntarily switch to a canvas boot if stationed in the south or places like Honduras, Iraq, etc.

Usually, you can wear leather boots in the summer if the leather breathes . . . but not if you douse it with waterproofing liquid like mink oil.

I just wasn't sure what truck drivers had found to be the most useful gear.

    Thanks
