Default Got's me CDL in hand! :)

Graduated Roadmaster Tampa today. All but 1 in the class passed the road test today! What a relief. Thanks to everyone who's given all this great input and advice over the last few weeks. It's been very helpful. Out of the 18 people who graduated today, 5 are confirmed to go with May and another 3 or 4 are looking at them as well. A couple are going Swift, a couple Werner, 1 is going with Hunt Transportation and the rest are undecided.

Myself and a classmate are meeting at the bus terminal in downtown Tampa on the 26th @ 5 am for a 12 hour ride up to Pensecola for May Trucking orientation. I can hardly wait. Really looking forward to it. Now the real learning begins I guess. I'll be keeping a log and will update here as soon as I can.

Once again gang, thanks for all the help.

    Dok

There are a lot of ex-Averitt drivers where I work... they dont have a lot of good things to say about them. I dont remember anything particular, but its mostly negative. All I know about them is they dont allow beards (the reason I didnt go with them) and your supposed to wear a uniform, and yes your home weekends... but bear in mind most trucking companies definition of "weekend" isnt home Friday leave Monday. Its more like home Sat. night leave Sun. morning.

I work in Cookeville, TN and pass their main terminal everyday going to work.

I work for them now and so far my weekends have been come in Friday during the day and come out Monday morning... I have been with them for 2 months and so far it is not to bad yet... Freight is slow and I am kinda concerned about not getting miles later on but this week was not to bad.

    Default Best Luck

Best of luck to you driver. You have a long bumpy road ahead of you. Your first 6 months will be a learning experince for you. Remember if you need help please feel free to stop in here and ask away. Us drivers have to stick together. It is getting hard for us each and everyday to keep the DOT off our ass let alone other drivers.

    Happy Holidays,
    Slider
