Default "No Smoking" signs to be placed on company trucks

I am looking for some links to support the story but basically on Thursday Dec.7 a public smoking ban is going in effect in Ohio.

    http://www.whiotv.com/news/10469813/detail.html

This is all bars, restaurants, and workplaces.

Truck drivers smoking in their cabs will also be breaking the law and there is talk of placing "No Smoking" signs on the doors of cabs.

Only in America, people need to get a life and quit trying to tell everyone else what to do.

    Just another moronic law/idea.

I'm pretty sure what ya do in your car is your own business, within the legal limits. Some smoking restrictions keep you a certain distance away from the building too.

I was in pheonix with a Mayflower driver and I'll never forget the look everyone gave us when we lit up a cigarrette. Needless to say, we were asked to do the shot we ordered and leave, not because we were stubborn...but because we had no ashtrays@!

If true, they will need to have a separate division for the DOT or State Patrol to enforce it. Let's see.....they could call it the "Cigarette Safety Patrol." :P

As a smoker, I agree that smoking should be banned in places like resturants and the such where people go to enjoy a smoke free environment. Kids (especially) don't need to be around that. Bars without ventilation gross me out though, as I hate my OWN 2nd ahnd smoke.

Places like bars should be exempt. I love a Marlboro with my Bud light, thats just how it is

Should we ban alcohol from resturants next?

If I owned the trucks you were smoking in, well you wouldn't be smoking. You wouldn't be spilling your coffee or tearing my property in any way. The smokers I have been around have no respect for anyone including themselves. They think it is a God given right to blow smoke in my face and through their butts all over the ground. When they show me a little respect, I will leave them alone. How would any of you smokers feel if I farted in your face? I see no difference in you blowing smoke in my face, other than your smoke can have long term health repercussions to me.

+1. As a group, smokers are the most disrespectful group of people around.

I do know some who are polite enough to not smoke around people or at least ask. However, it's much more common for smokers to blow smoke wherever, light up wherever, and throw their butts wherever. I can't tell you how disgusting it is to have to walk over hundreds, if not thousands, of cigarette butts to get to the door to where I used to work. No smoking inside, but when a group of 10+ smokers gather outside the door, what a mess. And what a nasty smell.

If you must smoke, please don't exhale.

I expect this thread to be highly pro-smoking. One study I read said that 45% of truckers are smokers.

I kinda dis agree with you on that bandit. I am a smoker and i think it should be up to the restaurants owner what type of restaurant he wants. If it is a non-smoking restaurant and i want to smoke i will not go there its that simple. If it is smoking a non-smoker does not have to eat there. This is America . People should have the right to run there buss. anyway they choose.

Well, that leaves 55% that are nonsmokers. A clear majority to me.

So apparently the law as written means once you cross the state line you can't smoke in your truck. Hmmm. I'm sure there will actually be very limited enforcement of this law as it applies to drivers.
