Default I used to be disabled

I recently got my hip replaced and now I want to go back to work. I don't have any work history because I stayed home and raised my daughter. Truck companies are acting like I am not useful. I am going to start CDL training soon and want to know if there is anything I can do or companies that will hire me.

With the hip replacement ~ is there any reason why you couldn't climb up into a tractor several times a day ? Or climb into the back of a trailer is necessary ? ..... If not ~ then the only thing you need to do is pass the DOT physical . There's so many different area's of trucking you should be able to find employment somewhere. ....

Good luck ... and don't give up if this is what you want to do.

    Default I can understand

I had the same problem ... not with the hip but another part ... I didn't have a work history for the last 10 years! not because I was lazy but medical problems ... finally when the Dr's said I could go back to work I could not get anyone to hire me ... so ..... I paid for CDL school myself
created a work history claiming to be self-employed. I had to have some people write statements saying I was self-employed but it worked and I've been a truck driver for sometime now ... yes it's hard but sometimes when your disabled you've got to help yourself.... and YES TRUCKING COMPANIES DO DISCRIMINATE against disabled people!!!!!!! I know this is a FACT ....

If you drew social security during that time all you have to do is show them your letter and that covers your time. If not you could get doctors letters or letters from friends that verify your disability and the time frame....sometimes that helps.

It makes me sick to see all of these posts lately regarding carriers not acknowledging stay at home parents as legitamite history.

Anyone who thinks parenting is easy should take 3 screaming kids to the doctor, football practice, school, and still keep their sanity.

I'm still a pain in the ass to my parents at times @24

You're right it is a fact... look in the SS list of qualified disabilities and you'll find trucker drivers.......under mentally impaired and deranged.................I are one, but they won't process my papers.
