Default Driving test tomorrow (Class B's) A few questions

Right. When you pre-trip the truck for the examiner, I'm told that when it comes to checking the oil, transmission fluid, power-steering fluid, etc., you do not actually have to pull the dipstick out, you only have to state that you would pull it out, and see that the level is above the refill mark and the full mark. Is this true? :?:

Also, on the backing thru the cones part of the test, you only get 2 pull-ups (where you pull the truck forward to make a correction), and still pass the test.

And does the vehicle you use have to pass the inspection? Does it matter if it has a small leak somewhere, one of the stem valve caps is missing, one of the clearence lights are out, the regular horn doesn't work, or say the fuel gauge doesn't work, etc? (I was told that it didn't have to fully pass) :?:

All this was told to me by my boss man, who took the driving test a little over a year ago. :?:

    :?:

Just ask the examiner what he expects you to do. I didn't have to check anything, just explain it. When you do the pre-trip, don't forget about the little things such as telling him you have spare fuses, a fire extinguisher, and three triangles.

If you are referring to the backward serpentine test, you may not have to do it. I didn't. If you were referring to the alley dock, it is simple, you shouldn't need any pull-ups.

Yes, the vehicle has to be able to pass inspection. A small oil leak shouldn't fail it. The valve stem cap doesn't matter but, if your worried about grab one off another truck. Definitely fix the clearance light. If you have an air horn, the city horn may or may not matter. The fuel does not have to work.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. The company that I worked for when I took mine sent me in a piece of junk. Fourtunatley, my inspector didn't make a fuss about it. I got all nerved up about it before I went, but it was actuallyu alot easier than I thought. MAKE SURE you know and mention all your parts steering, brakes etc. Don't forget the small stuff. I'm sure you'll be fine

here in Missouri the examiner was a former military man and was strictly by the book the school instructors gave us a heads up about him be sure to touch it and state what it is i still checked it thou and went on checkin, but remember each state can and will be vary to a degree

I live in Georgia, and in a couple of hours I'll be taking it at a tech. school, and only recently started giving the tests for CDL Class B's. (A few months ago). I should be alright though.

Yep, I passed. The truck hardly had to pass inspection, as long as the examiner knew that I KNEW what I was talking about, everything went fine. I was unable to parallel park on the drivers side but was able to do it on the blind side... 8)
