    Default SHE FORGOT...

This newbie lady trucker I was talking to said she failed to mention during her DOT physical that she had 2 stents put in her heart 6 months ago. Her blood pressure is fine now and her meds consist of blood presure medication and plavix along with an aspirn a day. She is wondering if she should inform the company doctor that performed the physical or not. I told her I would get on here and see what the pros think...?

Probably be a good idea. It won't hurt her if her physical and BP is fine, but the DOT requires the cardio info to be on file. Better to get it out of the way now rather than have it pop up later, which could cost her the job if they think she intentionally mislead the doc.

Wonder how the "Doc" missed the scar(s) on her leg where the stents were inserted. Must not have been too thorough. Ditto what Twilight Flyer said. BOL

I've had several and never had to disrobe. Just one more example different strokes for different folks.

How did she "forget?" I think she probably flat out lied to the Dr. Because if she was honest about her meds the doc would have asked why she was taking them, etc. I'm guessing she tried to pull a quick one and now the guilt and fear is setting in. I'm sorry, but I worked in EMS for four years and I never transported a patient who "forgot" that they had extensive cardiac issues or "forgot" they had stents put in. I don't buy it.

I agree! I am a former Paramedic and I have also transported many patients that has had this done and not one of them "Forgot" to mention it.
I think if she did mention the meds the Doc was just not paying attention. Either that or she just flat out did not tell the Doc.

Thanks for all your help. And for those of you that didn't understand the question...I did not ask if you thought she misled the Dr. on purpose...just what you thought she should do now!

She should definitely come forward with the information to her company. In the event, god forbid, she should be involved in an accident where someone was seriously hurt or even killed..... you can bet the plaintiffs lawyer as well as the FDOT investigators will be checking into her health history........for it to be found out then would most likely be the end of her driving career and quit possible her freedom.

Just had a DOT physical today and had to disrobe to my briefs and put on some disposable "shorts" and the Doc was a female and she did ask me to drop the shorts and the briefs to do the hernia check.

At least I had a little action today.

One other small item to consider... if she fails to report it, and she has futher "cardiac" related problems....it could become a serious health insurance issue as far as "pre-existing" conditions and such are concerned.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

There in lies the problem...............when you ask a question without disclaimers, you are going to get answers you don't like.....hell, you might even get suggestions you don't like.......so I suggest next time you ask a question, please put a disclaimer so you'll hear only what you want to hear.

That applies to many on this board..........they ask questions, then get pizzed because they get answers they don't like.
