Default Bastard Trainer.... Oh how I hate you..

Just spent the past 5 days with my first trainer.

After a 10 hour orientation on Wednesday he had me drive til 4am.
That made 24 hours I had been awake.

    My dislikes:
He sleeps MORE than I do.
He does creative logging to make it look like he is driving when I really am.
I get 30 minutes for a break (two 15's) during my 11-13 hours of driving.
He demands I drive for 600 miles REGARDLESS of how much time it takes.
Lunch is eaten in the truck.
Lunch is the only meal I get.
I had ONE shower in 5 days.

    I am tired.

SO.. I am calling my TC this morning. We are both on hometime, so I can officially not drive, and not abandon a load.

To all the trainers out there that screw new drivers like this, may you rot in hell!

If you like the company then I would say you should talk to the training department or safety and express your concerns. I have found most companies will correct any know problems when they are made aware they exist. Many times it comes down to one person just can't get along with another person.

Using "creative logging" puts YOU exposed for fines. Log it likes it happens. If you don't have the hours then refuse to drive.

They have invested money in you and I am sure they want you to continue your employment.

When I was a trainee I got out of the truck and checked into a motel and called safety and was asigned a new trainer. I later was informed the trainer was removed from training status.

Just remember your actions can affect your future employment.

    Good Luck.

No offense, but are you sure you're not exaggerating a little here? I find it hard to believe that ANY trainer would allow you to drive all night after a 10 orientation. That not only puts you in danger but the trainer as well.....[/code]

It seems to me that this is a big selling point on becoming a trainer. You can drive the **** out of your trainee, sleep all the time, and get paid for all of his miles. The training programs I have looked into pay the driver for all miles to the truck, so in essence you are getting paid as a team but pocketing all the revenue while the trainee gets a token wage. Gotta "Pay your dues" though, right?

Not to mention people have even gone to jail after an accident when they were not at fault but log book was falsified!
Get a new trainer, might be easier than you think

Always document everything and when this ***** happens tell him if he is going to jack you around you will turn his ***** in to the safety department. If he gets *****ty tell him you got it on tape and you are not screwing around. He won't screw with you and if he does go straight to the Safety Department with all your documentation and if they don't listen tell them that you are going to make a phone call to the DOT office because they will, but you need everything written down with date and time on it.

This happen to me years ago, it was more of I do all the work and he got paid, I ate in the truck, only showered twice a week and slept across the dog house of a cabover. I screwed with this guy for 4 weeks and the last week I threaten to whoop his *****, well he took me to the terminal and cried to the boss, I told my side of the story and the boss asked him if I could drive and he said yes he is a good driver, the boss put me in my own truck that day. He never trained again, and every time I seen him I gave him hell

spencerian cut your losses and move on to another carrier.
im sure you certified your logs, thus falsifying them. Just because your a student/trainee doesnt mean your not set to the same legal standards as your trainer.
why you would rat yourself out and send two sets of logbooks in boggles my mind. Dont ever, ever, ever do that again.
im not exusing what your trainer did putting a brand new driver in the seat for extended peroids like that is not great but you schould hear some of the otherstories iv been told in the past.
Get in the positive frame of mind this is only for a few weeks i can stick it out. the point is always try for another trainer first but dear god man dont send in 2 sets of logs.

    Honestly Now, Spencerain!!!!

YOU CAN NOT REALLY BE HERE LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY!!!

Now, if my recollection is accurate, I seem to I recall a thread that you initiated entitled:

    "I'm Being Trained By Politicians!!"

In that thread, you complained about the school that was training you, and all of the lies that you thought they were telling you.

I replied by asking you why you would want to drive for CR England in the first place.

I told you at that time that they had a long standing, well deserved, and well recognized reputation for being the worst of the worst companies out there.

You replied by telling me, and other experienced drivers who also tried to warn you, that unless we had personally driven for CRE, then we were not qualified to sit in judgment on them nor did we have the right, or to quote you directly, "the authority" to speak of them in a derogatory fashion.

    Remember???

BTW, the RED is in honor of that big, pretty, RED TRUCK that you wanted to drive so badly!!!
