Default hi everyone i made it to Canada!!!!

Hi everyone and can i just say its nice to be back, its been quite a few months since i last posted back in the united kingdom but those who remember me G-Man ect will now that i planned to move to canada to drive truck.
Well i did it, moved here July 1st bought a house took my CDL test again and I'm on the road. Had a Frieghtshaker for 1 month and now been given a Volvo(lucky or what).
Unfortunately i will prob not bump in to a few of you guys in the us as They have me on Domestic work in Canada Coast To Coast, although i did enjoy my one training trip i did to the States, lots of paperwork involved.
Just in case anybody is curious i chose the domestic for better home time although i had to be trained for USA so if and when work dies down i can actually run south.
I will prob not be able to respond to posts for the next 4 to 8 days as i am running out this afternoon and don't know when i will be back, but when i am i will be sure to get back to you all.

Congratulations on the move and new job. Keep us posted as you can. Crossing the border can be a real challenge if your paperwork is not in order. Most of the time, if the shipper has done their work properly, it isn't a big deal.

hi allan5ho , no im'e not on for yanke, i came over with the siemens transport group who own about a dozen trucking companies so you get a choice of who to work for.
I chose Edge Transportation its a flat deck company lots of good points a few bad but we wont go there.

Hey ppc25... congrats on the move across the pond!! I'll keep my eyes open for those trucks when I'm rolling in Canada. Keep your CB on if you see a Yanke truck on the Highway, If it's me I'll give a hollar to see if it's you.

    Cheers!!

Oh God... try to stay out of the ditch, ok? lol I think their guys got into a lot of trouble last year because they were in the ditch up here on a regular basis, now if its even raining they don't seem to be going over 80k.

    This is an Edge truck!

Congrats!!! I'm a US citizen hoping to move to Canada soon. I am already pre-approved for a company and need to pass my CDL, which I and everyone else is confident will happen, I just need more practice. Truck driver school was suck-ass, range trainer obviously disliked women, so since I was the only female AND the youngest in the class, it was NOT fun.

Canadians are so much nicer to me than people here. That's why I'm hoping to move there.

    Congrats again and good luck!!!

Can a US citizen easily get a job and resident status in Cananda? I've always wondered. Thanks

I have met a few owner operators who have dual citizenship in Canada and the U.S. It can be confusing to the border people when you tell them you are both a U.S. and Canadian citizen.

Reply to- ThinkingAboutTrucking & sweepwing i am not sure about how you get in to canada and get a job, i came from england and it was pretty easy lots of paperwork which i am sure you will not have to deal with.
There is apparently a driver shortage here which is why certian big companys are recruiting from the U.K. some have done a good job others have not quite got it right.
As for the canadians bieng nicer people, i think your right, to a degree, most canadians are very laid back and politicaly correct, they tend not to shout about things and are very reserved and proud of the country they live in.
I must say i do enjoy living in Canada especially Saskatchewan, this is the real Canada lots of open space affordable housing , good paying trucking jobs, and less than 1 million people in our province.
the downside is you have to pay for it, everything is much more expensive than the states and theu.k. for that matter, but i would not change anything for the world.
My kids love it here and thats the main reason i moved. Let me know where you are thinking of moving to, hell i could get you lined up with a job even, The Siemens transport group is really expanding and the driver turnover rate is pretty low.
Good look with the move if you do it, both of you. Always willing to answer your questions. Take care out there.
