10 speed does not have a splitter on the side of the gear shift, only a high/low selector.

Also when you go from low to high side you come clear over towards you and back on a 10 speed.

Along the same lines...can anyone tell me about shifting 18 speed? I am going to be doing a bit of driving here during the fall harvest. Will be hauling corn and soy. I have the understanding that the bottom 6 gears are really granny gears. The guy said something about letting up on the accelator and it shift into high (if I was understanding things). Any help, guys?

An 18 Speed transmission has the exact same shifting pattern as a 13 Speed transmission but you can split every gear.

A 13 and an 18 are both based off a 9 speed (5 low range and 4 high range). A 13 is a 9 speed that you can split the top gears on. A 18 is a 9 speed that you can split both the low and high side on. It can all be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you drive one it's pretty simple.

Yah, to split up you push the side button away from you first and then let off on the fuel smoothly until it drops about 200 rpm then get back on it. You should feel it shift anyways. To split down you let off the fuel until it drops a bit and get back on it smoothly and it will pick up about 200 rpms and lock in. It's pretty easy really. 8)

If you ever get to drive a super-10 is is like a 13 speed without the low range and the gears twice as far apart. Shifts just like going through all the splits on the 13 speed but the splits are about 400 rpm instead of 200 rpm. 8)

13's and 18's do take a little getting used to, but I agree they are pretty simple once you shift them for a couple days.

One other thing I would add, it's not always necessary to split every single gear. If all you are doing is driving relatively flat ground, there's not much need to split.

13speed is jsut like a 10speed except u can split the gears

What i do most of the time (less than 32000lbs) is I shift just like a 10speed till i get to "10th" gear then i push the red button up and let off the gas and go back on the gas the truck will shift

The other way to drive a 13speed is to go 1-4 go flip the selector and go into 5 now to shift into 6 press the red button foward let off fuel go back on fuel truck will shift to go into seventh press the red button back and move the shifter repeat steps to shit rest of gears.
