Almost all drivers start out at TMC with two weeks of orientation and hands-on securement training. (Highly experienced drivers may get to skip a step or two) This is followed by six weeks of driving with a certified trainer. If you and your trainer and the safety department be satisfied with your progress you MAY be allowed to team drive during the last week.

    From the TMC website:
TMC has been committed to training recent truck school graduates since 1993. Our program is recognized as one of the best. Student drivers are paid while training at TMC, from orientation right on through your over-the-road training with one of our certified trainers.

    Weeks 1?2
    4 days of company orientation
3 days of hands-on load securement training
    5 days of equipment familiarization
Lunch provided during the first week
    Paid $300 salary per week

    Weeks 3?8
6 weeks of over-the-road training with a certified trainer
    Paid $350 salary per week

    Week 9
    Certify completion of training
Get assigned to your own truck
Start earning high weekly wages, choose percentage-based or mileage-based pay, your choice

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
    Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

During the 2 weeks of training at Des Moines, you get to stay at the Baymont hotel which is owned by TMC. It is right besides the training area - a nice hotel, exercise room, swimming pool, nice suburban / rural area just south of Des Moines.
I'm not nearly as think as you confused I am!
