Default Got kind of a dumb question

I know that there's what they call a low-boy, that's used to haul heavy equipment such as an escavator, bull-dozer, etc. But is there such a thing as a high-boy?

Well, you're right about the "lowboy", also called a DOUBLE-DROP. As for a HIGH-BOY, I guess it would be a straight flat. If you raised the bed for any reason, it would have to be a very special application, and would not be able to haul much other cargo. The idea behind having a trailer in the first place is to haul something on it. Don't get a lot of revenue from pulling an MT trailer around.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

We have enough trouble keeping things low to get under bridges and viaducts so there is not need for a high boy in trucking.

But with a quick web search, I did find such a thing as a "high-boy"
Nothing to do with trucking, but SWEET

There are several different versions of a high boy in the farming industry. There are generally some time of fertilizer sprayer. The only kind that I know of that pertains to trucking is a a large sprayer or fertilizer spreader that has extremely tall wheels. You can see these at many fertilizer plants and some do require a CDL in order to operate it. Some, however are more like tractors than big trucks and do not require a CDL. These are the only "high boys" that I can think of.

There's a few high boys around but they get caught and get "weeded out".

High boy trailers are the norm in the oilpatch, they have a live roll on the back so they can winch things onto their trailers.

I have seen those type of trailers, but don't recall them being referred to as high boys.
