It helps to read every thing before you reply.![]()

i typed that reply before the rev's post had appeared. When I was finished, the rev's rebuttal was there.
Me too . Your post showed before mine I should have used the quot . I was referring to what cret -drvr posted.Originally Posted by acranger

My wife and i use TA and The Flying Hook mostly. We've only found a few bad shower places. But what we do like is that you can get a free and clean shower at the new plazas on the Ohio Turnpike. And they have a nice waiting area with a tv and smoking and non-smoking sides. Probably the only nice thing about the Ohio Turnpike.
When you walk into the shower room at the T/A, look up at the air vent. Most of the T/As I've been in have mold growing on the grate of the vent. The one place that they never seem to clean, no matter how clean the rest of the place is. And, if it's there, you're breathing it too.Originally Posted by groinster

And, Pilot is even better at this than T/A.

I must admit, you are correct. I have noticed that. I'm not saying that TA has the cleanest overall, i was merely commenting on where we go.

Crete_drvr: 15 weeks off in HHG isn't abnormal, honestly. Hell, I've only worked about 7 months this year, (Jan, Feb, 2 weeks of Mar, the last week of May til the end of July, then I took August and Sept. off and Just came back in October...and I start re-loading tomorrow to take off again after being at home for almost 3 weeks.) And, I have made more than $60k. I don't work alot, but when I work I bust my ass, and run big money linehauls, my linehauls at my last agent ranged from $13k-$18k. And, it's taken me a year and a half to put 90k miles on my truck. Who's working smarter here? I'm certainly not business savvy, nor do I eat out of a cooler...I stay in hotels, eat out all the time, and will even fly home if I'm stuck somewhere for a week.
But, then again I'm only a 25 year old kid who doesn't know what he's doing.![]()
Save a drum......bang a trucker!
Stick to the Thread Topic
geeze never knew soap could be such a hot topic![]()
A walk in the clouds is like a walk on water
Deleted them all-I suggest before someone makes a response they read what the Thread is-This one happened to be about SHOWERS On the Road.
I tip my hat to Teal and Rev for the business they are in. I know as I was a bedbugger for eight years. I was lugging furniture with Mayflower at the age of 13, then on the road with TT license in hand at 18.
However, you could not pay me enough to go back to Bed bugging. Then again, these guys would think Flatbedding is a piece of cake. Thats what I am going to do. Watch out for the jelly rolls Teal & Rev, and have a good piano board,
(I do know there is cash in Bed bugging though... )

from being out on the road, TA truckstops are the dirtest places out of them all, I like petros and pilots and even the flying j but to the man before who mentioned scoggins in dubois idaho, yes on the little gas stations, what a cute little blonde that works there, her grand pappy owns the place and yup really nice people...good home cookin....just on a bad snowed covered road is all...smaller truck stops I have seen have 5 dollar showers and 10 dollar rooms uptairs and are far better and cleaner than those large truck stops.. laundry is 50 cents too
The only good thing about winning is ..... your first next to losing!
Most, drivers i see dont bother with showers so this isnt a problem for them![]()
James "the Just," brother (or cousin) of our Lord, author of the biblical book of James, and first bishop of Jerusalem, ought to be a patron saint of truckers. For one thing, his symbol is a club (a 1st century tire-thumper). But here is the clincher:
(from St. Jerome's biography of James )(He) never shaved or anointed himself with ointment or bathed.
When we had a church service for his feast day a couple weeks ago and the priest read that passage, I started giggling, because I was picturing some of the characters you see at truck stops. I couldn't keep a straight face for the rest of the service.
P.S. -- the person usually considered the patron of truck drivers is St. Christopher.
