    Default RV Delivery

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find information on becoming an RV delivery driver? I would like to find a manufacturer or company to drive for.

    Thanks,
    Harley Rider

I use to be with Jet Inc., which is Jayco's own transport division, they are located in Middlebury, IN and you can go to the Jayco web site and find a link to them. I started with Classic Transporters and quickly switch from them to Jayco (Classic was very Mickey Mouse), Jet is very strick on safety and compliance and can be hard to tolerate because of it. I checked into Horizon and they seem like a descent company, they have better potential for back-hauls, they have a web site also.

I drove for Horizon Transport. Basically unless you have another source
of income...i.e. retirement etc......I would not do it. Starting out you make
.79-.83 cents per mile, but you must pay for fuel. You must have a tow vehicle(to get back to Indiana). Usually a small car, 3400lbs or less and that is at your expense also. $1000 deposit for damages. When starting out you can only take class C RV's and the straight trucks or buses. For the buses and straight trucks you have to buy a universal hitch ($200)for your tow vehicle, crawl under and attach and remove and also wire it up for your tow vehicle.Reloads are very seldom in the location where you are going. The good things....500 miles per day expected, plenty of time to deliver. Dealers only take delivery typically 8am-330pm so you can get plenty of rest. One other bad thing is you have to do a delivery wash of the unit. Which finding a car wash can be fun. Unless you live in Indiana you will be dead heading home alot, and burning up your towed vehicle with mileage.
