    Default I Miss The Road

This is probably the wrong place to post this message and I ask the moderators to move it to the proper location.

I am a 58 year old retired educator. In 2003 I went to truck driving school with CRST and drove for them for about 7 or 8 months. I had a great trainer , one bad partner and one good one. I enjoyed team driving and actually enjoyed sleeping while the truck was moving. Everything with CRST was positive with the exception of getting me home on my requested dates. Part of that problem was my inexperience at playing the game.

I went from CRST to driving a reefer for KLLM. Again, a good company that I have no real complaints about. They changed their time off policy and I became weary of the early morning deliveries and worrying with temperatures and lumpers.

I then drove for a small company that was a most unpleasant experience.

Anyhow, I have a tad over 2 years of experience and a clean record. I do some consulting work but really miss being on the road. Driving was great fun for me.

Do any of you know of an opportunity where I can do an Atlanta to West Coast run once or twice a month? Team would be great but I am willing to do solo. I am a non-smoker and that is an issue for me.

I really wish to drive but not be married to the truck.

    Any advice?

Call Swift, we used to work with a guy that did weekend runs to Los Angeles until he got stuck there at couldn't get a run until Tuesday so his weekday job said choose them or us! He choose to stay full-time employed.
If you think you can or you think you can't, either way you are right!

Might want to look into the truckload division of my outfit:

You are essentially on a dedicated account going between the larger terminals. You'll never touch the freight (that's my job) and shipper/receiver delays will be minimal.

    Hi W.B.,

I'm not SURE if they can give you that kind of schedule, but check with R.E.Garrison out of Decatur (or Hartselle?) AL.

They've got some dedicated runs to the West Coast.

    Thanks for the info folks.

Auburn somehow managed to be the Gators. It was quite a game.

Let's see...AU haas won 4 straight against US. I'm betting it will be 5 straight!
