I am 47 and I have two sons, 19 and 21 years old and have taught them both to drive, no way in hell I am going out with a 21 year old to train me! I said no thank you! He didn't like the ideal either, but I am sorry you have 7 months driving I have 8 months and just because I am having some difficulty with a super 10 instead of 8 speed and automatics I am not risking my driving career for you 2 try 2 teach me something or my life when you have less time and have lived less time and younger people do stupider things! I met another man who trained with George and agreed with me he should not be training yet! Whatever these companies are thinking they need to get their heads out of their butts and realize ain't no older person going with some show off younger trainer who does not have any type of winter driving experience yet he began March 9, 2006 and I have been in school August 2004, then September 2004 through February 2005 yes winter driving from October to February including a white out in Gary, Indiana, frozen washer fluid, frozen windshield wipers and numerous ice storms, too many 2 count, ie Waddy, KY shut down 3 days, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, etc for snow and ice and this kid has not driven on snow or ice in a big rig yet, no thanks, ain't being noone's guinea pig trainee with trainer without any winter driving experience~!
Just curious, what company did that?

    Give Falcon a call.
I have been there six months now and am happy so far.
They get me home every weekend and I average about 1 k a week gross.
I just got my 3rd safety bonus, 534.00.
After 3 months they got me on a somewhat dedicated run.
They are not perfect but none are.
I woulkd have gone with TMC , Maverick or Melton but Falcon has a drop lot by me and my run by me so it's easier to get home.
I would say maybe those three are better than Falcon but in looks only.
With the experience you have you may be able to just do thier two week orientation and training program and be good to go, I would at least call them.

I will keep them in mind. I talked to my boss about leaving and he wants me to stay he is seeing if he can get me .50 more an hr. So if he does that i might stay there another year. But if i want to go OTR i think i will go to the smaller outfits. thanks for the info.

Mackman, it's nothing personal, and for that matter I ain't(sic) one to talk, but whatever you decide to do,you need to work on your grammer in the written sense.
If you go otr, logbooks are your livleyhood and they need to be clear and concise. Also,if you have to fill out an accident report, the more professional you appear on paper, the better chance you have in keeping your career....just some friendly advice, take 'er or leave 'er.
Just shut up and enjoy the ride...

To me Mackman staying put is the move I'd make as well. I don't know if you're into hunting and fishing or stuff like that but you wouldn't have a lot of time for other activities driving OTR. I don't drive for a living but I have a brother in law that does and I don't think he's hunted since he started driving. He just doesn't have the time or energy when he's home. He pretty much works on little projects around his place or catches up on rest.

I may drive someday but it'd be local or with a company with very good hometime.

yeah trapper i was thinking that i like to ride by Harley alot and on Friday night go out to the bar with all my friends and what not. I think i will do OTR one day but maybe when am a little older. I looked at what i make now and see what OTR drivers make. I think am ahead of the game for the most part. Its just something about the otr i cant get out of my system.
