You probably don't need to ask the same question in two categories...

The second one is a general thread about May Trucking Company, but I'm pretty sure there is a ton of info about reefer hauling.

The good thing about hauling reefer is that you can make piles of money, especially hauling it up from Mexico,or Cuba. Im sure a lot of people get away with hauling reefer. I would be scared to death to haul that stuff. I dont smoke reefer, let alone haul it. :P

The better companies place money in a Comcheck account that you can write a check against. Once you arrive at a receiver, the lumper service gives you a quote. You send a Qualcomm message to dispatch asking for a Comchek authorization. They reply and you cut the check for the amount.

I preferred to always have about $400-500 in my Comchek account for lumpers and tolls. I could write checks for lumpers or get toll money without asking for it, then after the load was finished ask for reimbursements. It worked better for me to not have to wait for a Comchek approval number. Sometimes the lumper service wanted to be paid agead of time. The longer I waited for the auth. number, the longer I sit at the receiver.

    Of course.

    Let me be absolutely clear.

I (BY CHOICE) chose to not transfer all of my paychecks from my Comchek account to my regular bank account back home. This practice allowed me to have quicker turnaround at receivers and get as much toll money as I needed when I needed it.

It's not for everyone. New drivers are welcome to ask for money and wait for the authorization reply.

The company always reimbursed me on the next paycheck after I requested the money.

If you haul it and smoke it at the same time, you will be late on the delivery, cause you will be hungry all the time and will want to stop at all the truckstops and eat. Then it will take you awhile to get out of the parking lot because you will be dazed and confused. So don't truck and smoke reefer at the same time.

How do you truck it from Cuba? :?
