Default Vicoden from Dentist and my career

I am in Truck driving school now but recently i had to go to the Dentist and he prescribed me 15 Vicoden. I have not taken them but i am curious if I were to take them and i was drug tested in an accident or by a company am I screwd or what.

More specifically what drugs exactly show up on drug screen by the D.O.T. such as Tylenol 3, Percacett, Vicoden etc.....(i hear Codien shows up as cocaineis) is thier an officail list or what?

Vicodin, Tylenol 3, etc are all narcotic pain relievers and will show up on a drug test.

Now then the DOT does allow for medications like this in the regs. If the medication is prescribed to you and the prescribing doctor and at times the doctor doing the DOT physical does not believe that taking the meds will cause a safety issue then you are good to go. Just be sure you have some proof that you have a current prescription for those meds in case you get popped for a drug test. If you do not you can wind up stuck with a positive drug test.

A standard 5 panel drug screen, which is what the DOT requires consists of

Amphetamines (if you took allergy meds, thy could show up here)
    Cocaine
    THC(pot)
Opiates (which is where your vicodin will show up)
    and Phenacyclidine (pcp)

Many companies use a 10 panel drug screen, which adds to the list

    Methamphetamine
    Methadone
    Barbituates
    Benzodiazepines (valium, xanex, etc)
    and trycyclic antidepressants

Every drug test I have taken (hundred maybe?) -- they usually ask if you are currently on any prescription drugs. You say yes and then produce the bottle of Vicodin and they note it on the form.

    100 drug tests? Holy Cow!

I know it is random, but in general does it happen every month or so?
And how much time does it take out of your 11 hours of driving?
I'm not nearly as think as you confused I am!
