Thank you for all the input but you raise another couple of question. I'm 5'11'@165lbs the idea of unloading 80k/lbs of frieght is not very appealing. I did a couple of holiday stints night stocking with Target, didn't know there was a term for it "Lumper" at the time, and just assume not go down that road again. Never shyed away from hard work but I'm looking to be a driver not a Driver/Lumper. Anyone with experience at Millis, Crete or Roehl on this subject? Also, do you leave your car parked where you get your truck? How do you work your routine around that?

Although I can do hard work, I HATE it with a passion. One reason why I want to be a truckdriver. I wouldn't mind HELPING unload to help stretch my legs and get some blood flowing after driving for hours, but if there's really hard work in it, maybe I wouldn't want to go into that company.

    OK, I'm a bit unusual.....
But I like unloading the truck. And it's part of my job.

But we get paid for it.

Our starting rate is 35.5 CPM right? Last payday I made 44CPM because of all the extra things I get paid for. The week before that I made 50 CPM.

    5'11" ....190 Lbs...61 yrs old.
    Retired salesman.

That's unusual to see indeed. Who are you driving for?

Sounds like a pretty decent outfit. I'm a recruiter, but I'd like to emphasize that I'm not here to try and pick up more drivers. I do fine on my own. But, we run some Dollar General accounts that are driver unload, and usually if a driver has more than 3 or 4 years of experience I don't even bother trying to talk them into taking it. That's why I'm saying you are indeed a rare breed on liking the unload
