    Default Question on license endorsements

    I'm in NC.
There are several endorsements available on CDL license.
    Hazmat, Carrying people, etc.

Do all of these require another road test as well as a written test?

If you have a CDL and want to be able to drive a bus or a tanker, what's involved?

    Thanks
    Len

With the exception of the passenger endorsement all others are strictly written tests.

If you get the passenger endorsement you will have to take another road test in an appropriate vehicle such as a large (15 or more passengers) van or bus.

If you're not Grandfathered you'll have to take a road test unless I'm missing something here.

    I quote:
Bus drivers must have a passenger endorsement on their commercial driver's license. To get the endorsement you must pass a knowledge test on Sections 2 and 4 of this manual. (If your bus has air brakes, you must also pass a knowledge test on Section 5.) You must also pass the skills tests required for the class of vehicle you drive.

In Michigan the One part that isn't Grandfathered for Road Tests is Bus.
    Mandatory for Everybody.

C Restriction - Prohibits the driver from operating Class A or B passenger vehicles (buses). A Class A or B CDL with the passenger endorsement will carry this restriction unless the driver obtains a passenger endorsement by successfully completing a skills test in a Class B passenger vehicle (bus).

I got that on my license. But i allso have a P endorsement on there to. I called penndot about this and they told me it was there fault and to come back to DMV and they would fix it. I never had the C restriction in till i got my class M so i got a dup. of my license and on the camera card it had it on there right from Penndot. So both of my license had the P endorsement but only the new one about 2 weeks old have the c restriction. Well if they want me to take a skills test i cant i have no way to get a hold of a bus. i just wanted because you never know.
