You may need to move your fifth wheel to adjust weight on your steers. I would try to first adjust the trailer tandems.

The only time you would mess with your 5th wheel is if you had to add or remove weight from your steer tires.

On most trucks if you put the 5th wheel over the center of the drive axles it will be a very rare occasion that you ever have to adjust it.

Occasionally it can be a clearance issue. Long loads on flatbeds, in particular.

I have to disagree yoopr. It is my belief you should slide the it at least once a month. Failure can cause it to NOT move when you need it.

On trailers with reefers you can also hit the reefer if the fifth wheel is too far forward.

I can count on one hand the times I had to touch it.
Disagreeing is Fine-It's what makes America Great.
Reason I rarely had to slide the 5th wheel was because I pretty much stayed with the Same trailer-hauling pretty much the same weight.

That was my experience. On the KW's I drove at Stevens, I had the 5th wheel in the 4th hole (or something like that) from the front and I only ever moved it twice to the third hole to take off weight from the drives. After those loads I set it back to the 4th hole. My trainer taught me that when in the 4th hole, you rarely have to move it and he was right. 8)
