Default what do you carry for protection in your truck

What do you all carry in your truck for protection? It seems absurd that law makers will not allow drivers to carry some type of firearm. With homeland security, hazmat, etc. it just does not click to me.

How easy would you give up your truck?? Two big guys knock on your door, say get out we are taking your truck, what next?? Just give it to them??

I wonder even though no body talks about it how many drivers are packing?
I am retired from BellSouth, been working in a hospital for 4 years and looking forward to becoming a Transport Manager (driver). I have a new shinny CDL.

I ain't packin', and I ain't mean and if two big doods come-a-knockin, well, then they can have it.

Company wants me to fight for it, they'll issue me a gun; that's what the Navy did!

I keep my doors locked all the time.......even when I'm in the cab. Now if the two big guys rip the door off the hinges... they can have the dam thing. One night I felt the cab rock just every so slightly while I was laying down in the sleeper.........next thing I know somebody came on over the CB telling me they had just watched some guy in dark clothing climb up between my cab and trailer and he hadn't come down yet........I told him I was going to pull out like I was heading out and to watch........I pulled the shades down, slipped it in gear and eased out of my spot....sure enough the would be mugger jumped and headed toward the end of the line on a dead run. The local county sheriff picked him up after one of their dogs chomped down on his leg.... he had crawled into a storm drain and got stuck..........seems they had a number of incidents in this TS by this guy hiding between the cab and the trailer and when the driver got out he thunked em with a sawed off baseball bat and stole their wallets and whatever else he could find in the cab.............

AFter that I started taking my fighting rooster with me.........best dang guard beast you'll ever find.............hell sometimes he won't even let me in the truck............I tell him all the time, if he don't stop that he's dinner..........and one of these times I'm gonna do it.
pain and heartaches aren't options in this life... misery is a choice.

Well... Let's see.... That "9-1-1" fuel additive, a couple of bottles of "MELT-DOWN"... (It gets downright cold up here...) And a spray bottle with watered down hair shampoo. Also a good aim for eyes...

If you keep your doors locked I think you have some time before someone who wanted to get in could. I just recently locked the keys in my car and had to smash the little rear window in my Mustang. I had a hammer and it took me about 10 times swinging like Hell to break the tempered glass. Also, wouldn't you pick the smallest window to break? I did. It cost me $640 to get it replaced!!!! The side window would have cost $170. DUH

And if you look you might have had lockout provision on your insurance and gotten a lock smith to open your door for free. :P :P :P

I am with yoopr. Common sense, aware or your surroundings are your best weapons. There is nothing they can put on my truck that is worth my life. If the want it they can have it. If it was that important I would have had enough official protection to make your average max security prison look like Grand Opening at Wal Mart.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Steve, you're not alone, I did the same thing to my work truck years ago. It was a Ford and it had the little wing window. I could have busted the rear window (mine was solid not sliding)and gotten a sliding rear window w/tint put in alot cheaper then that little wing. sometimes we learn the hard way

I carry my 50 pound 8 month old American Pitbull Terrier. I had a lot lizard coming toward my truck he woke me up by barking and growling. She seen him and went the opposite direction. He has a sense for bad characters. If a driver pulls in next to me he does not act-up. But let somebody come around who he thinks is not supposed to be there he will let me know. If two guys break in my canine will be busy with one while I'm biting the other one . Also try a stun gun, keep it in the cubby hole.
May God bless all in their ventures......Been gone while but now I'm back. Going to keep on trucking even though the freight is sucking.

Collard I tried that with my Min Pin but the Lot Lizard thought she was cute and wouldnt leave....

So now I have the Min Pin and a .45 Colt.

One is a warning device, the second one is in case you dont want to leave after hearing the warning device.

I have heard different drivers also mention wasp spray to the eyes. I would imagine that it would work pretty good. Just an idea, and if you ever get asked about it, all you have to say is that you keep it with you in case you pick up a trailer with wasp nests on it. BOL
    Keep it safe!!!

Since my company rules prohibit the legal carry of a firearm, I would NEVER, EVER carry one.

The gun I don't carry in the truck, and that is not on my right hip right now, even though I have a Texas Concealed Handgun License, is a 2nd Gen. Glock model 20 10mm Auto. Since I don't carry it, it doesn't matter that it has a 15rd magazine filled with DoubleTap ammo 165grn Speer Gold Dot (1400fps/ 718ft/lbs), plus one in the chamber and two extra 15rd mags, which I don't have on my left hip right now, because I don't carry the gun, right? The gun I don't carry also has Big Dot tritium sights, a Wolff 22# recoil spring and extra-power firing pin spring, a Glock 3.5# connector/NY1 trigger set-up, and extended mag catch, slide lock, and slide release levers. But I don't carry it, of course. Not in the Comp-Tac C.-T.A.C. IWB holster in summer months, and definitely not in the Comp-Tac Settable Cant holster or Tucker Gunleather HF2 OWB holsters in jacket weather. Definitely not on the Wilderness 5 Stitch belt.

I do, however, always have some Fox Labs 5.3 OC spray, known to my Dallas SWAT team friend Mike as "Blister in a Can". I usually have the 4oz can on my belt with a Stanley Sport Utility knife/utility blade combo. The Stanley is my do anything knife, but I also have a Gerber folder in my right pocket. Because it's a nice knife.

I have a 2oz Fox 5.3 can in my overhead console in front of me.

I also have the ol' BarJan Tire Thumper, which might make a good head thumper in a pinch. I always have that at truck stops, rest areas, and other potentially shaky locales when I'm outside the truck. Clubs are illegal in Texas, but tire thumpers aren't, since they are used to thump tires, right?

While we're on the subject, Texas is about to pass the "Stand Your Ground" legislation which means you will have the right to meet force with deadly force when you perceive a serious threat. No longer will you have a duty to retreat. Yay.

My boss doesnt care if I carry a weapon or not, and since I can legally carry anywhere in the USA, I do. I dont brandish it around, I just have it with me in the truck if needed.

If you want the truck you can have it, but your not going to kill me for giving it to you.
