    Default 'OLD SCHOOL' Photo Gallery

Well, this photo collection was inspired by Dennis in se pa's photos of Roehl's RDTC thread. I dug these photos out and scanned them in...sorry for the poor quality.
If you recognize any of these 'characters' give me a shout and let 'em know
they're world wide web famous now. Wonder if any of 'em are still in the business.

    Left to Right:

'Cowboy', 'Bear', 'Daffy Duck'- Ron W.(White?) practice their 'speal' for our

pre-trip test. As I recall, 'Cowboy' and 'Daffy' were both experienced drivers- before the days of CDL became mandated and companies
started requiring proof of attendance of a 'trucking school'.

'Joker'--the handle fit. Real fun to be around, never really knew if the 'elevator' really made it to the top, or if it was all just an act.

    Here's another of ole JW:

    __________________________________________________ ____________

Left to right(or first to last):

    Lisa
    her bf(David???)
    and this guy?????(below)

    __________________________________________________ ___________

    Here, 'IceMan' checks the gear pattern and reviews the speed ranges;
    7speed, maybe even straight 7.
'IceMan'----yeah, TopGun was still 'cool' back then.

    __________________________________________________ ____________

The 'Other' Russell- lower left corner with basball cap.
This was my room mate during classes--also Driving out of Lowell, Ar
3rd generation Trucker- did fine with all the hands on, but need extra help
with all the written tests. When I quit( 6months after going 1st seat, he and I were the last 2 remaining in Lowell from this class. Class started out
on Day 1- with 95students, after drug testing & background---on day 3 we
    had 29 students.
    __________________________________________________ ___________

Left hand side: 'Kid' with baseball cap, brand new 501 jeans.
This guy scored the highest scores on all the tests, both written & skills test- the 'real' Iceman TopGun of the class. He would never touch the steering wheel without wearing a pair of white euro-style racing gloves.
The evening I quit JBHunt and bob-tailed their truck back to Lowell, Ar to
go on my New Year's Eve Date---he was cutting & serving up the prime rib
at the Hilton restraunt for our dinner. I asked him---"what happened"

He made it 2 weeks with his trainer before he decided that--trucking wasn't
'FUN'---he said his mother was fixing to pay for him to try something else--
going to 'Chef School' in New Orleans. Hope he found where he belonged-and is having 'Fun'.

Look at those cabovers! I still remember when JB Hunt and Schnider ran all cabovers. Those were the good 'ol days when the rates started to get hacked to death. Brings back fond memories like: "HEY! JB! Git yer 55 MPH piece of crap out of the left lane, there ain't enuff super-slab from Maine to California to get around that Schnider Pumpkin!!!! Move over and let a real left lane hammer down trucker get 'er dun!!!!! (all in good fun, now.) And now, everyone except the really rich and shameless go slow. Boy howdy, have times changed.
It ain't what you haul, It's how you haul it!
Keep the bugs off yer bumper and the bears off yer tail.
Carry the message, not the sickness...
