Default Any insulin using CDL holders out there??

Slightly off topic except that diabetic drivers watch there diet closely. I'am looking to converse with a driver that had to go through the FMCSA insulin exemption process. Also any input on a forum link onDiabetic CDL holders would be welcome.

As far as I know if you take insulin you can't drive, period.

As I sit looking all around,
Confusion and uncertainty is all I found.
    The answers are there,
But I do not know where.
    Optimistic and hopeful dreams,
Are all I have so it seems.
The future I do not know,
So all I can do is take it slow.
But I do know it will work out,
So I wait and watch without a doubt

The FMCs provide a exemption process which is very detailed and very selective. I also can be a pilot (which I am) and use insulin.

Yes there is an exemption program in place. Never went through it myself but I have researched it being diabetic myself. Pretty much you end up having to do a few backflips through flaming hoops to get the exemption which can be granted for any time period from 3 months to 2 years.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

That's a good way to describe it- considering out of the hundreds of thousands of CDL holders there's only been less than a hundred who've been granted a wavier.

Basically, Diabetes is the "kiss of death" to us drivers. Just a matter of time before we are no longer qualified. And considering that most of us have been diabetic for several years before we finally reached the point( bad health) that we finally pissed sugar during a once every 2 year DOT physical. My doctor told me- that I probably have 5 years max before I need insulin ( cause you've probably already been diabetic for 5 years)

related to topic. i heard the lefties on 90.7 fm in portland say a strict vegan diet with no milk and cheese will put diabetes into remission. backslide on the diet and it will come back
maybe farfetched but the mac america diet has caused an epidemic of diabetes even among children
im still doing the lunchmeat and cheese in the morning but celery and hot salsa is a fine supper evry night. im down 45 lbs and am thinking that meat and cheese is not worth 50k a year.might have to steel ourselves and put the fork down

I hear you man. I started really paying atention to the portion sizes and wtched myself go from 255 to 215. Once I get some income comeing in I can get back on my 6 surer small meals. Amazingly, even though youd think you will stay emty, once you get past that first few days, they actually fill you up. just make sure to have some water with your meal. If i ate it but had no water, I could eat 5x as much b4 I was full.

On the note of insulin, I know you can get the wave but not sure about the steps to get it. I once seen a schnider driver takeing his insulin while waiting to get loaded so they are out there. BOL

I was a 220 pound diabetic with high blood pressure shooting insulin 2x a day. 2 years ago, I bought a book by Dr Neal Bernard called "Reversing Diabetes Through Diet", and never looked back. I lost 65 pounds, got off the insulin, blood pressure returned to normal, and my A1C is currently 7.0. Check it out....
