kick his ass? lol with a 3 year old what can you do.... sounds like the kids need some discipline and maybe some time spent with them... not making any judgments on you, but with your situation.. can't be a sturdy family structure for either you and the kids.... but yeah sometimes a good ass kicking gets them in gear lol.

You didn't say how long your husband has been on the road? ....

I raised my 2 children as a single parent ... and I can tell you from experience ... the kicking is a normal stage ... more than likely it doesn't have ANYTHING to do with your husbands job - and best thing that broke my children from doing it was - to kick them back!! - .. then they set down and cry that - - it hurt ! .... yes it does and that's why You can't kick people any more..... As far as you not wanting your child to love you for that day if you spank him ... Let me ask you this ? ..... I wonder how much your child is going to love you when they get older and continue to be disrespectful to others and doesn't have many friends because he wasn't taught how to be respectful ... Spare the rod / spoil the child. ... your child is going to love you forever.

i agree to for4roses.. it doesn't a mom could not discipline a child because the father isn't around. my mom has been great to raise us up even when my dad wan't around. a good talk would be great, letting us know why we shouldn't do it. if things a better explained to the children, they will understand it. even with the situation that a father is not around should be told so the children will get by, understanding and loving their parents much more.

To me it doesn't sounds as though the kicking has anything to do with your hubby's job. You need to discipline your child whether your husband is there or not. The best thing you can do as a parent is to teach your child how to be a respectful, meaningful person to society. Your job isn't to be their friend it is to teach them how to function in life.

That being said I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I have had to actually spank my 10 yo child. It works better that I take away the TV or not allow him to do something he wants to do as punishment.

MY Mom was the enforcer whether dad was on the road or not. If acted the fool, I knew what was coming, and I guess out of fear I didn't act like a brat.

Beat his butt. That's why God put so much padding there. If you don't he'll become a spoiled rotten brat who thinks he can get what he wants by throwing a tantrum.
