    Default TMC rumor, again?

Just read on another location, poster said he got text msg from friend who drives for TMC. He says all drivers were told to fill tanks and head for Des Moines terminal.

Anyone else hear anything similar? I know, could be just another rumor, especially since it's a "my friend" type.

    Just curious.

You know, I read something about a week ago on TMC where the owner himself had come out with a statement. It was a pretty harshly worded statement directed at TMC's competitors and didn't do anything to quell the ongoing rumors that TMC was having issues. As a matter of fact, it fueled it even more because everyone was suddenly thinking "hmmm...what's the guy trying to hide?" One would think if there were no issues, the owner would simply ignore it as just more CB talk. Thought it was rather interesting.

TMC trucking company dispels rumors that it's going to close | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register

The grant they talk about is not even enough to fill all their trucks with fuel. No one ever says "we are going down" Arrow denied it till the end.

I couldn't imagine TMC bellying up, but I wouldn't be surprised.
There is one thing that I noticed...
She pointed to a $680,500 grant that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources provided the company to work to reduce diesel exhaust.
What in the world does that mean?
How do you reduce diesel exhaust? Smaller motors? Getting rid of the drivers that have lead feet?
Not running on all 6 cylinders?
I aint dumb, but that doesn't make sense.

That wouldn't surprise me, seeing as how I don't remember a single one of their trucks with an APU installed.
APU's or not, I'd hate to see them shut down. Those drivers are out there trying to earn a living, much like the rest of us.

It was a rumor, and just that. It was debunked on another forum, and I've since talked to 3 TMC drivers. They admitted that TMC has cut back on some things, to trim some costs. I know freight is still down, but well established companies might still ride it out.

Arrow was still pulling loads, and drivers were still getting miles, although reduced. What happened there wasn't due to lack of freight, it was criminal rape from the inside, but the top people.

I have different opinion - those drivers are supporting a company that undercuts my company's rates and I"M trying to make a decent living.

Methinks it's the bling bling they run. How many other large companies run trucks that are straight blinging like theirs do when they are all dolled up?

So, you do not support a free market economy? Just curious, what economic system do you support?

western distribution out of denver has blue trucks that scream "BLING BLING!" wherever they go. when their drivers are sitting, which by the way, isn't uncommon, they're sitting in style, yo!

I'm no longer in the biz, but TMC came into at least two of my customers and gutted the rates. And I mean gutted, to well under $1.40 a mile when we were regularly pulling those loads for $2.50 to $3 down to the back woods of GA.

Reading comprehension my friend, is apparently not your best suit.

How the hell do you get that out of my comment?

TMC has a right to undercut freight and haul below operating costs and they also have a right to go belly up and I have a right to dance and shout when they do.
