Oct. 16 Ride and Drive Hybrid South Bend, Ind
The new Kenworth T370 class 7 diesel/electric hybrid tractor is aimed at local applications such as beverage, general freight, and grocery distribution, with a goal of 25% better fuel economy. The tractor will be available in various wheelbases, starting as short as 153 in.
The T370 is powered by the Paccar PX-6 engine and features Eaton’s integral transmission-mounted motor/generator, frame-mounted 340-volt battery pack, and dedicated power-management system. Advanced powertrain controls monitor driving conditions and automatically select the ideal power mode, switching among electric-only, combined diesel and electric, and diesel-only power modes. The hybrid system is monitored through a dash display, which continuously updates the driver on system status as power requirements for different driving conditions change.
The new T370 will be available during the Oct. 16 Ride and Drive event at the annual Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF) in South Bend, Ind. (see www.htuf.org).
