Default Rules for dating my daughter

    Daddy's Rules for Dating

    Rule One:
If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.

    Rule Two:
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them..

    Rule Three:
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.

    Rule Four:
I'm sure you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a 'Barrier method' of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you.

    Rule Five:
It is usually understood that in order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I require from you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only word I need from you on this subject is: 'early.'

    Rule Six:
I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.

    Rule Seven:
As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process than can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge . Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?

    Rule Eight:
The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool. Places where there is darkness. Places where there is dancing, holding hands, or happiness. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka - zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual themes are to be avoided; movies which feature chain saws are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folks homes are better.

    Rule Nine:
Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless god of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me.

    Rule Ten:
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the sound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a rice paddy near Hanoi . When my Agent Orange starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit the car with both hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car - there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

Mine's about four months, so I've got a bit longer. My wife says she's not allowed out of the house 'til she's 32. ;-)

I'm glad my girls are beyond those days, but it sure was fun messing with the boys that came around. They always seem to make sure the girls got home on time.

My sweet darling would never bring her date to meet me. Not since she was sixteen.

She would always go out after I go to work. She would always meet him where they were going.

Now that she is twenty, she is living with her boyfriend. Not only will she not let me meet him, she won't tell me where she lives.

 I know where she lives. She doesn't know that I do. She is happier that way.

You scare one boy so much that he runs away, and they never let you forget it.........

Same here...My 21 y/o is moving in with her boyfriend whom I've never met.
There was a boy back in high school that she was crazy about but he was scared *****-less of me. First conversation with him he asks me where he can buy some cheap beer. First impression, not good. I called the police one night when she didn't come home, they were in a motel. She eventually dumped him, but now she won't let me meet any one she dates. Probably a good thing.

I know most guys are afraid of meeting the father, but I've been Mother and Father for 16 years and have met enough losers to be able to spot them immediately. She says I scare them off, and I don't even own a gun.

This reminds me of when I was first getting on the road ~ my daughter in her late teens and had moved out with a girlfriend .. just had a baby. She wouldn't let me meet the daddy because he was in a 'gang' .... One day I appeared uninvited to her apartment - she was gone at the moment but her boyfriend was there with 2 of his 'homies' ... not knowning which one was him, I asked " which one of you is Alfonzo?" .. none would talk  ~ that didn't bother me, so I said what I came to say ... " Ok since none of you will admit to being Alfonzo, let me tell you RIGHT NOW ... I'm leaving for the road next week so I won't be within hands reach for Amy, but I carry a 357 and I do hit what I aim for - so if ONE hair is hurt on her or my grandson .... I Will come after you - as well as I too have friends on both sides of the law and they Will find you also." .......... all 3 of those boys moved up to the edge of the couch as if they were going to stand up and I just continued to set still and stare them down. About that time Amy walked in the door. I told her in front of them what I said and that I mean every word of it........... Dang it's sad that we have to threaten some people like this, but our kids have to know that we do have their back if their abused. ...................... When I left there I sat in my car in shock ... couldn't beleive that I had just talked that way to 3 guys that belong to the 'Bloods' ...

My daughter has put herself through Nursing school and no longer with that person. Glad she got wise

I should qualify my statement, I am more worried about the girls my kids will date that parents don't seem to care what their daughters are doing, as they run a muck and go crazy. Since I was one of those so call Wild childs, I know and understand them a whole lot.

Here is my thoughts on parenting,,,, I do the best job I can raising them and teaching them values, letting them see all my mistakes and if lucky learning from them. Once they are old enough to make those decision, I must take a step back and let them understand what life is all about and the that every choice we make has consequences, that can last a life time. I had my first baby at the rip old age of 16, Both my parents were so happy to say "ta ta Good luck with that"

I have been praying for my boys and the women they are to meet and marry, especially the mother-in-law I hope to be. I pray I did a good job raising my kids and hopefully show them what a mother and wife is suppose to look and act like. Time will tell.

I understand. My wife has met my daughter current boyfriend. This guy is a ruffneck (meaning he works on a oil rig), but what my wife says, he is very friendly. My daughter claims he is a very nice guy, even thought he is twice my size, standing 6'6" @250 lbs....big as a bear.

I told her as long as he remains that way, I'll respect her wishes..... however, if she or my granddaughter ever gets hurt, it will be time to go hunting bear.

It's funny though. Some of the nicest men are big like that. So I hope things work out. She has been living with him for over a year now, and I haven't heard any complaints. And my daughter would tell me. So I guess all is good.

I'm more worried about some girl getting her hands on my sons... they are 15 and 16..... and girls are always around them. I glad for that, however, I don't want them to knock one of them up. So I'm having them listen to Tom Leykis. They need to learn the rules he got for Leykis101.... I can only hope that it will help them get their minds straight. I wished I would have found him 22 years earlier.
Deja moo. It's when you feel you have heard this BS before.

My daughters use to hate when I went into one of those modes! But the thing that makes me always laugh, they will tell everyone that those modes always stuck in their minds. I always told them the way it was from a Male side of view and don't come crying to me if they caught their boys in a lie or cheating. The thing they say now is that they hated that I always was right. But at least they new that I was there to cover their behinds. My favorite saying was, you may think that you are a step ahead of me, but I'm just a swift quick in the ass behind you!

ratdog: I know this is off topic, but is the truck in your signature/avitar a real truck? If it is, what is it? And do you have a link?
