I have a Cristal clean driving record up until yesterday some jerk rear ended me in my new car at a stop sign. I was not cited for any violation by the police at the seen. The other driver however was not so lucky. It seems he was driving on a suspended license and was NOT a authorized driver on the insurance for the pick up truck he was driving. My question is this.... I am just now getting my CDL license and I am worried this accident might hurt my chances of landing a job. Can any of the experts here on the forum let me know if this is so or not?. I couldn't believe the guy that hit me! He wanted me to just take his info. and he said he would pay the damages out of his pocket then when his wife showed up she yelled at me for ruining their life!. Anyway, they arrested the guy and took him to the slammer and put the cuffs on him!. Although I didn't suffer any serious injuries I did strain my neck bad and am now on pain meds. and wearing a soft collar. I have missed work days and I am considering taking this guy to small claims court and sue for the max!. Anyway, will this afect my getting a driveing job?

The only way it would is if you're injured, and that would somehow affect your new job. I don't see how an accident that is obviously the other guys fault would affect your job prospects.

Thanks for your answer! The only injuries I suffered was a badly strained neck and lots of mussel soreness. I had both a MRI and CAT scan and both showed no bone damage. I still think I may have a small claims court case for this missed work and pain.

While you are off work, may I suggest a course on basic literacy, say hooked on phonics? It may help with future job prospects, unless of course you decide that OTR trucking is your life long goal, then it won't be necessary.:lol2:

As far as the accident, no it won't affect your license or hiring prospects. You did nothing to contribute to the accident except being there.

I dont have to worry about that! My wife has a PHD and I let her fill out all job applications and other forms. LOL. I was lucky enough to marry a rich woman all our debt is paid!. She even has her own airplane and runway in the back yard. I am 50 years old and feel I am too young to just stop working and take ocean cruses all the time.

I am 50 years old

The title of your thread:
After 50 years of clean driving I got a accident yesterday

So your saying that you have been driving since the day you were born. Interesting.

Who are you going to sue? the guy with no insurance? C'mon, let the courts spend their time and budgets putting away criminals. And seriously, Part Time Dweller is correct. Go to the adult education center or something.

That explains his lack of literacy, he was busy driving when he should have been in grade school.

What I find funny is that he states "after getting off work YESTERDAY some jerk rear ended me" yet he has missed "DAYS OF WORK" Hmmm

Yep I am yet to be amazed, some people in this world just enjoy taking the path of least resistance..

Thank you once again "DAD" for instilling in me a good work ethic.. I could not have done it without you're direction, I have been able to take those lessons you gave me and pass them onto my Daughters, and in turn my daughters will do the same for their children.
It starts at home.... Maybe this is where Yankee missed out.

Of course sonny. 3 posts, all on this thread - and it's NOT EVEN APRIL? Return of KEVIN? KEVIN - is THAT YOU?

If this is a REAL POST, and you're REALLY NOT the total MORON you make yourself out to be (KEVIN), then SEE A PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEY. Problem is, if this guy had no license and wasn't authorized to operate the vehicle - then you're going to have to go after your OWN (UNINSURED) MOTORIST policy (if you have one) - as the company that insures HIS CAR is likely to try damn hard to deny the claim (and they probably CAN). I think his WIFE is exaggerating about you ruining her life (though you're certainly having a negative impact on OURS here on classadrivers) - her bad choices in men accomplished that ALL ON THEIR OWN.

As far as it messing up your chances at a trucking career - you will obviously need to be OFF THE MEDS - but I have no doubt you will develop an incredibly bad ADDICTION to them, leading to years in rehabs, jails and hospitals before you actually get CLEAN ENOUGH to pass a drug test. If you don't catch any MAJOR FELONIES between now and then, and don't get incur any more BRAIN DAMAGE along the way - then MAYBE you can get a hire with SWIFT (though even they're raising their standards from what I hear)...

Best of luck to you (or not)...

Rick

on the off chance this was a real question and that is really iffy: No, it will not effect any new job as you were not at fault.

She even has her own airplane and runway in the back yard.

Sounds impressive, but don't mean a whole lot when the 'airplane' and 'runway' are for remote controled aircraft. =)

Dam sounds like my wreck was worse....

I split a greydog in half on the st johns river bridge on I-4.One half flew off the bridge and hit the river ship romance. The other half hit the amtrack auto train and the smoke from the wreck made a 747 crash into CFR hospital on the lake front. My neck hurts a little but it wasnt my fault.........

Can I still be my own boss one day?
