NFL News Feed: Favre Stays Retired - Mark Maske (http://views.washingtonpost.com/theleague/nflnewsfeed/2009/07/favre-staying-retired.html)
Quarterback Brett Favre has decided to remain retired rather than playing this season for the Minnesota Vikings, the team has announced.
After Favre informed the club of his decision, Vikings Coach Brad Childress said in a written statement on the team's website: "It was a rare and unique opportunity to consider adding not only a future Hall of Fame quarterback but one that is very familiar with our system and division. That does not detract from the team that we have. As we have consistently communicated, we feel good about our team and they have put forth a tremendous effort this offseason preparing for the season ahead. With this behind us, we look forward to getting to Mankato and getting training camp under way."
Darn, and I was so looking forward to him pulling a "Michael Jordon" and eventually ending up doing a Loony Toons movie after a failed baseball career.

Holding teams hostage is not a good move for a future member of the hall.......

Brett has been Mr. Indecisive for many, many years. He did the same thing to the Packers a few years ago.

Hey, if the man still has an itch to play, let'em play. He's only looking to further ruin his own legacy, why should we care if that happens? The Jets found out the hard way why the Pack was willing to turn him loose so easily. Now the Vikes will find out what the Jets found out last year.

Looking at the situation from a different angle:
With all the millions of dollars Favre undoubtedly has, why would he want to come back again at the age of 40?
Other than his shoulder surgery, he is reportedly in good health and would be able to enjoy his retirement.
Another comeback puts him at risk of a bad hit putting him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, or worse.
If that happens, his "retirement" years will be useless, and all the money in the world won't change that.

Brett Favre is now a Viking. Well, he's not actually a Viking, but there's no team whose mascot is a giant ******

Purple helmeted ________, 60% of his TD's are from less than 10 yds. Almost always end the season with a terrible interception. Although really the only thing he has to do this year is hand the ball off to AP.

I think he will be in the Hall of Fame, sometime. I think he should have retired for good, the first time.
