I've got a 99 Pete 379 daycab that had a little problem with the front left fender. Another driver hit it and of course damaged it really bad. I have got a new fender but the left side of the hood is damaged from that fender pulling against it. I was wondering, can you get replacement panels just for the side of the hood. To me it looks like you could remove that whole left side of the hood where all of the Huck rivets are and just install a new one. Does anybody know if this is possible??? Thanks for any help!

Yes you can get just the side panel. I don't do bodywork myself but another guy at work replaces them often.

Yes, the hood can be reskinned. Be forewarned though - the panels aren't cheap. It's just a matter of drilling out the rivets on the old one, drilling new rivet holes in the new one (i believe they don't come pre-drilled), and riveting it into place.

There's also an inside panel shaped about like a dogbone. I think it acts as a stiffener. We usually replace that when replacing a panel. Use urethane behind it to glue it to the panel when putting it all together or you will get a rattle in the future. All the side panels we get come pre-drilled.
