Then there is what I am getting my wife this year. She loves this certain kind of Sal****er fish called a Blue ribbon eel. Well we pick it up this weekend she wondered why I bought a crapload of PVC pipe when I did not need it then made a tunnel network out of it then buried it in my fishtank. Well she found out when I showed her the fish and said you have to get yours early this year it will not last under the TREE .

Many many years ago .... WHEN I was married, the diamond fell out of my wedding set. I told my husband all I wanted was to have the diamond replaced. True it wouldn't have the same meaning because it wasn't the orginal diamond, but at least I could wear the whole set. ................... Well ........... Christmas morning there was a tiny little box under the tree ... OMG I was so excited .... my heart was racing and I had the biggest smile on my face when I opened the box. Inside the box was a 'key' .... with a note that said .... "your gift is in the shed " , which was locked ....... I ran out there like a child getting their first bike. .... To my surprise ..... there set a big gray VACUMM SWEEPER . .... :( ............ to this very day my ex and I laugh about the look on my face when I saw the sweeper ..... We were poor and I was a clean freak so he figured I would like this ....... wrrrongggggggggggggggg !!!!!!!!!!!!!! .................. guys - - - NEVER buy your lady a sweeper for Christmas.

What is it with guys and vacuum cleaners? On our first Christmas together together, my EX bought me a vacuum...he was all proud of himself. True, I had asked for a vacuum...but not for Christmas. And I had asked for a specific one (mainly due to HIS allergies). He didn't get the one I asked for...when I was upset (for several reasons), he had the nuts to say (about the vacuum cleaner brand)..."It was good enough for MY mother...". I told him, I hope you like to vacuum...because I will NEVER push that contraption around this house. And I never did. Every Christmas thereafter, he was so thoughtful about gifts that I NEARLY forgot about the vacuum...

I'm guessing the guy is going to get some really lame sex in return, and I'm guessing that sex is going to be with himself. DOH! I would of course get her a cat, if she didn't like it then I could eat it. Ohhhh God there go the voices again.
What ever I got her there would be a follow up gift wich would be a vibrator, then if she didn't like the 1st gift, then you know what she can do then. Uh Oh! I'm going back to therapy soon. So I'm guessing that why I've never been married, I'm just sooo sensitive.

Harley, harley, harley...smack talking about eating kitty again! LOL
Therapy might be a good thing! Me and a friend of mine were JUST talking yesterday at lunch about how you NEVER buy a vibrator for anyone...those must be picked out by the user...
Maybe I need therapy, too...I don't recall how we got on THAT subject...

I used to start listening in the spring to when my wife or daughters would say "I wish I had a ....." If they didnt buy one of whatever before Christmas I would buy it for them. I have also had to give my wife ideas of what to get the kids when she didnt have any.

Not familiar with the brand. I do all my cooking in cast-iron. Use them right, and nothing sticks, and it tastes like Grandma's cooking.
And, NO... If I buy them new, Grandma's cooking is not "STILL IN THERE".
And, guys... If you get a set of them for your wife... Be on your very best behavior... Those things can do real damage where ever they hit.

Le creusets are the ENAMELLED Cast Iron cookware. You can just about do anything with them including drive a nail if needed. I have told my wife I want a set of those since I do about 98% of the cooking and do the dishes anyway why not get a good set of them.

i have a few pieces. no need for a set ironeagle. it's best to get what you want because you don't always use what comes in a set. go to their outlet if there is one near you. that's where i got mine. or williams - sonoma has a big selection too. i started one pot at a time.

If you drove a nail in with a piece of Le Creuset cookware, not only would you chip it, but I'd personally come and beat you along side your head for doing so.

I can't tell from the inside. Are they a non-stick surface on the inside or bare cast-iron?
mommee
12-15-2008, 01:46 PM
they are enamelled coated pots and pans. some come with a non-stick coating. i have both styles and for the most part both types don't have any sticking issues.

Looking at he prices, I would say only one piece at a time. For that price, regular, ordinary cast-iron works just fine for me. Maybe in my next life when I'm going to be a billionaire...

You get what you pay for. I was looking at a 23 piece set of Shun knives on eBay today for the low, low price of $1695. So sharp, they come with a set of band aids.

yup, only one piece at a time and they last forever. they are great to cook with. those who know cooking the difference between good pots and cheap crappy ones. the same holds true for knives. i cut myself recently with my new knife. didn't realize it was that sharp. :o

I bought myself a purty new Kyocera ceramic paring knife today. It's my first one. The blade is extremely thin, and super sharp. At $30, I couldn't pass it up. I almost bought myself a 2 piece set for $100 (paring knife and chef's knife), but decided instead to buy my mom one of the paring knives for Christmas.
It definitely won't get used as much as my Wusthof knives, but for vegetables, it will kick all kinds of ass.

I love knives. I'm a knife collector. My knives were stolen (hocked) by my ex husband. I hate him the most for that. I've lost my favorite knife and don't know where to go to replace it. I cannot remember the brand for the life of me...I had thought it was a Case but I can't find it. It's got a musket on the side of it. Anyone who could help me find out where to get a new one, I would be extremely appreciative...Maybe it's a Remington brand...it's probably a Remington.
My favorite "brand" of knives is Hen and Rooster. I LOVE KNIVES! I also lost an old set that I was saving for my son...the set was called "Old Man and the Little Boy". I would like to find a replacement for that.

I never seem to cut myself on a sharp knife. It's always the dull ones that try to amputate my fingers. I have a slow-turning wet stone (turns through a pool of water) to sharpen my knives. Doesn't get the steel hot, and you can get them sharp enough to shave with in a short time. Does a really great job on lawn mower blades too. Doesn't "burn" the steel like bench grinders do.
And, as far as pots go, those cheap things most stores sell can stay right there on the store shelves. Ordinary cast-iron works fine for me. And, I don't have to sell my first born to buy one.

Now Rev I was just using a metaphor the only pan I would use to drive a nail would be that POS revere ware my mom gave me. As for knives I will take my wolfgang Puck set I got as a wedding Present suckers will go thru about anything I need if not I dig out the commercial grade Butcher Knife to do the job or the cleaver to cut thru the bones.
