Recent Visitor Lists

Is this list really necessary?

Do the names on the list ever go away?

Can we clear them, get rid of the list, or at least change the settings so the names eventually drop off?

I am not interested in the visitor list.
It clutters up my page and is visually distracting.

If a mod will please remove it for me or make the customizing options available that would be great. Thanks again.
