14000+ members but only 38 active? Did you really mean to ban everyone and start over or is this just a 'glitch'?

Love ya,

Hey, give them some time. When you make changes to a website there are almost always unforseen glitches. They'll get it worked out. I'm sure someone, somewhere is pulling his/her hair out. In the mean time, have a little fun with it.

I haven't done it myself, but I imagine switching from a phpBB message board to a vBulletin board is a major change. Even if vBulletin has it set up as a point and click swap over, there are a lot of things that go wrong. I've considered doing it myself (on another board) but fear of glitches has stopped me- clearly, I am right to be afraid!

BOL CAD- hope this gets cleared up soon.

Of course, just knowing that GMAN is out there wondering why he got banned is kind of funny... lol. BOL GMAN- hope not GMAN shows up soon!

True however. When you have this many members on a LIVE forum you do a little due dilligence. Like do a test conversion on a COPY of the database and make sure you work out the 'glitches' before you go live. You also give a NOTICE to your 14000+ users. And finally you have a VIABLE back out plan to put things back the way they were if and when it goes to ****. It's called being a PROFESSIONAL!

Oh and you don't just make these changes and THEN HIDE when everyone is asking questions.

You are right about that. They should have tested more and, once they realized they banned us all, they should put the old version back in place. OR send a mass email in the mean time to let folks know they HAVEN'T been banned.

And you are right that they aren't responding to the problem very well. I doubt they are hiding on purpose, though. I imagine the people who would otherwise be responding to the messages are busy trying to fix the problem.

I know I sound like I'm defending CAD- and I AM. I have a soft spot for admin- I AM and admin elsewhere and I know that these glitches happen and they can be a real pain to fix. I've never swapped out a message board but we did swap an entire site over to a different web host and server. That was a real headache (and very expensive to repair!).

When did this happen, anyway? As I said somewhere else, I haven't logged in for a few days.

I have a soft spot for CAD too, however I've been in the IT industry for over 20 yers and there are protocols that were not followed here. That's my beef! This is a very busy and very popular board and if they want to stay that way, they should show a little respect for the users who frequent this forum.

How many users will login and get the message that they are banned and just leave? Not all the users here are very computer savvy and will not have any idea what to do other than just accept the ban message and leave.

They did this yesterday and there have been people posting since then asking what's going on and there has been NO RESPONSE! Hell ridgerunner had to create a new user login and I haven't seen any other mods on here so is the board wide open now? Can all the old banned members just create a new login? It's now an auto sign up.

I was able to log back in with my original username, even though it said I was banned for life this morning.

Seems like some things are working themselves out.

Sorry guys, we did test this on a development server and we have been testing data imports on this for a few weeks now. That being said, we tested with a sample of users that we had access to their accounts and passwords. Lee did make a posting a few days ago, but with the activity on this board , I'm sure it got lost in the traffic. With roughly 20,000 users, 400,000 posts and much more to consider we were doomed to have a few glitches, most of which couldn't be accounted for until we turned the system loose on you guys. Thank you so much for you patience. We know this is a popular board and serves as more than just a simple chat room. The company that now owns ClassADrivers.com also owns vBulletin, the software now running this message board. Basically this means, once we get over this initial hurdle, support, security and features will continue to increase. Thanks again and please just wait us out as we try to make your experience the most enjoyable possible.

Well, at least now I understand the reasoning behind the change and that makes sense. On behalf of the board, though, the notification was somewhat lacking.

Anyway, for anyone having log-in issues:

That should help you out.

At first I thought...OH THANK GOD!!! I'm finally banned...the madness is now over.

....then I thought...when they migrated, they still needed to transfer some files,
and I'd just wait until the got things cleaned up.

For me...waiting is not really too much of a problem.
I just listen to the toon in my head.

Okay.....this is weird!! Cuz, just a moment ago, there were two posts with RebelDarlin with a broken bottle of Jack as an avatar! But, oh yeah..... they changed it back JUST before you read my post! Are they Fuggin with me?? Tryin' to get me in trouble again??

Best that we ALL don't say too much that is incriminating before they finish this progression. Cuz, I have NO doubt they will destroy all the evidence! WINK!
