I understand! I used to be 5' 1" and a 1/2, but I lost the 1/2.

The reason I wondered, is I have a hard time with the shoulder harnesses in most vehicles, they strangle me if they don't have an adjuster on them and my International doesn't have one.

Does being too tall present problems too?

It does if he's in a day cab...he has about a foot more room in a Class A. It is the legroom that presents a problem.

Other parts can be a factor. Some good, some bad.

I can't buy cloths, boots and shoes or even jewelry at regular stores. My wrists are so big, I can not wear ANY mens wrist watches. I've always had to mount the watch onto a custom made band.

I have size 15 feet. I have to wear the tennis style shoes, so my feet aren't so heavy to pick up and double clutch. Also, when I wear my steeltoe Redwings...I have a hell of a time on most forklifts, or climbing around on my flatbed loads.

Big hands too. Size 15 1/2 ring finger...but rather than a disadvantage, for the most part my manhandler hands are a huge plus. I can still do delicate stuff too. I play Satriani style guitar...although I had to learn to tiptoe above the 17th fret. But I have one hell of a stretch/reach...and can blaze off lagato's and do massive bends and hammer on/pull off's like no ones business.

Wide shoulders...not easy getting between stuff. I usually have to climb over, or shove stuff aside. But the big bones are a plus for brute work. As a knuckle-dragger, I can also quickly convert to running on all fours, to chase down some of those fast as hell wimmin. :P

Yeah, I always had to struggle to find shoes for him, too...a size 16. And passing the "physical therapy" part of the employment requirement (the climbing up and down, up and down off a truck, the step on their little truck that was mounted on the wall was not designed for a foot that big. He always had trouble with that) was aggravating to him.

Not relevant whether you're male or female, the shoulder harnesses fit either the same way.

... 5ft - 1/2" .... I have to agree with Rebel ~ the shoulder straps always chock me in every truck or car I drive. ... I generally pull the shoulder strap down a bit and clamp it with the strap across my lap ... the clamp is easy enough to remove if I suddenly need to for the scales or DOT ... even if the truck has a slider to lower the shoulder strap ~ I have to lower my seat enough to reach the peddles. ... so the shoulder strap will never be low enough for me ... it's just a way of life, being short has never stopped me from doing anything I've wanted to ....

I'm 5'2".

I have a stupid question. Does anyone have a hard time reaching the pedals comfortably? I was practicing driving yesterday and couldn't rest my feet on the floor while pressing gas/brake if that makes any sense. I had to hold my feet up to press the brake/gas. I had the seat pulled up as far as it would go. I had the seat raised a little so I could see over the steering wheel lol. I was still not sitting all the way back in the seat either because I couldn't reach. Any suggestions? Any products? It was very uncomfortable to drive that way. I was driving a Volvo in case that makes a difference. Thanks.

I'm 5'1" and have the same problem. If the seat is high enough to see over the dash I can't reach the floor. I have seen these pedal extenders, but haven't tried them because I drive a different vehicle every day.

I drive a 379 Pete & have the same problem, if I put ANY air in the seat my feet bounce off the pedals, so what I found was unlock the rocker & put NO air in the seat, it helps save the back on rough roads. I don't worry about seeing OVER the steering wheel...I just pick a spot to look under it & above the dash!:lol::lol:

My wife is just a hair under 5 foot... (4' 11 3/4") The first company we drove for, together, moved the seat forward about 4 inches for her. It still moved back enough for me to be comfortable, but gave her a real advantage. That was the only truck where she had that. From your heights, I would not suggest trying to drive a T-2000. That was the only truck she was not able to see over the dash. She's driven Pete's, Kenworths, and Freightliners in about every state, and in every major city across the country. The T-2000 was the only one she could not drive.

I have seen trucks with the pedals blocked up for the drivers too. I don't have a problem at 6' tall.
