#1
David Hayes was fishing with his granddaughter in a pond behind his house when she asked him to hold her Barbie fishing rod while she went to the bathroom.
The rest is North Carolina sports history. Hayes took the fishing rod and seconds later the toy hooked a state-record channel catfish, at 21 pounds, 1 ounce.... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,407901,00.html What luck! You guys, I think it's time to start shopping the toy ailse!!

I read that one yesterday and got a kick out of it.
Back in '83, my mother caught a 3+ pound bullhead out of a pound that was 1 ounce shy of the state record. She caught it on a cane pole...no rod and reel.

That's cool! I bet she was surprised! I used to fish alot when I was a kid and I kind of miss it...it was really relaxing...but I pretty much always used a cane pole...for perch and brim and croppie...out in Arkansas. I loved fishing with my grandmother and my favorite uncle...we would go squirrel hunting, too...I never figured out what he did with those squirrels, though...
