Default Is it a Concealed Weapon?

Does having a flare gun under the seat of a vehicle constitute a concealed weapon?

Sorry,,,,, :? I meant this to be in the Anything and Everything Truck Driver Related forum.

Maybe a Moderator can move it. They never seem to be around when you need them.

I'm not DOT but I would consider it one due to the fact that it can hurt someone who is shot at with it if they are close enough. An officer is likely to see it as a regular gun at first look. Best bet, get ahold of DOT and ask them about it before you place it in your truck. I can see how it could be useful in a bad situation, say stuck out in the middle of nowhere but the flip side is, it still can be a weapon.

It depends on the laws of a given state, county or city.

thought flare guns were orange. If so I would think not as long as it can be seen no just the black handle grips

My only question is why you would even think of carrying on under the seat? Man that thing would hurt when someone shoves it up your, well you know where and pulls the trigger!

If you are going to carry, get a concealed weapons permit and do it legally. Don't try to carry something that is not meant for defense. Carry a taser, carry a tire bumper, don't carry something that if it misfires could burn your truck to the ground!!

f you are going to carry, get a concealed weapons permit and do it legally.
As a driver that is impossible to do. Too many states do not recognize other states CCP's, and then you add to it there are many cities that do not allow possession of a hand gun at all.

The only way to legally transport any type of firearm, in all states and cities is to have it in a locked case and the ammo in a separate case and stored in an area not accessible by the driver or any passengers.
