Default Co-Pilot GPS and Windows Vista?

I had a Dell Inspiron Laptop with widows XP that i ran co-pilot laptop on but it just went kapootski........ Going to get a new laptop but i thought i heard co-pilot will not work with windows Vista. Laptops all seem to have only vista on them . Computer guy at Best Buy said you can't put XP on if it has Vista installed. Can anyone help me with this problem and give a suggestion on a good inexpensive laptop for about $600.oo tops. Thanks for your help!

I know that ALK is working on their next release which will be 100% Vista compatible. They said it's supposed to be out sometime this month.

Try giving them a call to see. I know that you'll need the new version for it to work correctly on Vista.

Dell currently sells their laptops with either XP or vista. I saw it on their website... perhaps you can call their customer service # if you can't get online.

STOP!!! DON'T GET A TOSHIBA!!!!!

They have following defects- power plug problems/ static electric short--
you climb in your truck bump the laptop--and burn the motherboard out.

They had a factory recall- and still a class action lawsuit against the static electric problem.

As for the Vista---
you can dump that Operating System---install a copy of windows XP O/S-- then reload( or load first --all they Drivers for your laptop---usually the restore disk has this option to install everything or just the factory drivers.

Get a Dell, or if you can afford it---a Faijsu?? or Acer
