Well I've been out of work for 3 months now and it looks like the county job I was hoping to get is slowly falling through my hands. I'm seriously starting to consider the truck driving thing. However, I live on the central coast in california and there don't seem to be any truck driving schools out here. I know that fresno and bakersfield have some schools. Before I spend 4 hours and $80 in gas to check them out, does anyone have any recomendations? If possible I'm looking for a place that will actually teach me how to handle a truck and not just how to pass the test.
Thanks,
Kevo
Check out Schneider they do what your asking. But your signed up to them for a year and a half. Myself I've signed up to go with Watkins & Shepard. There in Missoula Montana check them out. Oh I'm in northern Ca.

Thanks, I might just do that, however I'd really like to try and pay for school myself if I can so I am not indebted to anyone. However thats not a bad option if you have to.

Well I don't think you have to finance at Watkins Shepard. The main reason I chose W/S is for the winter and mountain training. Plus they teach you to drive a truck , where other schools just train you to get a CDL.

SNI has mandatory winter and spring training for all drivers no matter the experience.
And with SNI, at least in California there is no mandatory contract and for other states its 1 year to commit.
No big deal , really.
