I'm not the computer guru on here but what I did was get a free version of Photobucket and put your picture on your files or desk top and then copy it to your photobucket account, copy it and then put it on your Avatar on your profille-It can only be a certain size so make it kinda small like the others.

You can click on Profile on top of the page, and at the bottom of the profile is a spot for your avatar. It will ask you to find a picture from your computer. The picture that you choose from your computer has to be pretty small. It will tell you on the profile.

How do you make the picture smaller to use for avatar?

You can use any graphic editing program: Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Paint, just to name a few. Cut the size down to the allowable, but make sure you check the file size, too. I think the max is 24K or at least it used to be.

Or you just PM a cool cat like that Rev.Vassago character, and he would be happy to not only resize your image, but give you hosting space for it as well.

Photobucket can make an avatar, you dont have to resize it manually. It will be resized automatically. I save my avatars in a seperate album in photobuckets.

Yeah I have a question about my avatar pic dimension?

Why did I have to shrink it down so much to have it accepted but other people's avatars are much bigger? How do I make it larger but still fit in the 24KB space limit?

Thanks.

I forgot I have one more Technical question.

There is this picture I want. I have the url code I think http anyway. So how do I transfer it to either my computer or my photobucket. I tried plugging it in to the photobucket box for upload and it popped up but then a message said something like this is not a valid URL code.

Something like that. I wanted it for an avatar and I would have copied it into the browse box but it is too large. It needs to be cropped.

Ideas???

Thanks again.

Open the pic up in your browser, then right click on the picture itself and then "save target as" and save it to your harddrive. Then you can mess with it all you want.

As far as why some pics look larger than others, but take up less memory, it's simply the quality of the pic.

If you are linking to an offsite avatar, there is no file size restriction. If you are trying to upload an avatar, there is a physical size, as well as a file size restriction. If you need it resized to meet the specs, PM it to me and I'll make it "legal" in Photoshop.
