Greetings,

Although the acquisition cost is pretty high, I found my 12v Freezer to be very handy on the road. I'm pretty sure that I spent a little over $300 for it, and it has a 14 quart capacity. In hindsight I probably would have gotten a larger one to stretch the time in between grocery runs, but as such I could fit a lot of hot pockets and frozen dinners in there if I took them out of their boxes.

I bought it from a web site called compactappliance.com - where they only seem to sell big ones now. Even so, if you're in it for the long haul its a good way to save $$$!

Here's a picture of mine:

I've been thinking about one, but just cant seem to save the 3-$400. to get one. Do you have a fridge and a freezer? obviously you have a microwave.

Hi,

Yep, I used one of those coleman coolers along with the freezer! J.B. didn't let us have microwaves! 8)

And it will keep things frozen even though it is only plugged in to a hot point? Man, I didn't think you could get one that worked well unless you hard wired it in. I'm going to have to find the money for that.

My Engel freezer only draws 4 amps max and is happy working off a lighter socket 8) .

We just bought a regular college fridge with seperate door for freezer. About 129.00 at Lowe's.

It's lasted over a year and well worth every penny. Our 1500 watt runs it and the microwave at the same time just fine.

NowNow, if you go shopping once a week, theres no need to freeze anything...even your milk will keep in a coleman or igloo 12v cooler. Besides- frozen foods are not known to be very healthy, so hotpockets wont do....Nothing like a healthy cereal and whole milk in the morning and some fresh fruit to snack on during the day....
