Rumor...
Yes, I do know that the "rumor mill" is very active at any time, and even more so now... But, just this morning, I heard that TMC parked 1,000 trucks.
Did anyone else hear anything about this? Any truth to it? |

I read a Celadon ad where they have used trucks for sale. 1100 of them to be exact, mostly 2007's. Are they downsizing or do they trade them in that often?

Business is still slowing down here with Big Brown. It's only a matter of time. More companies will fail. Very bad conditions right now. It's a downhill train. People wont spend their money because they're afraid and the problems get worse. People need to start spending again.

It was something another driver told me while at a customer yesterday morning. With 108,000 jobs gone last year, it wouldn't surprise me, but just hearing it from one person, I wondered if it was just a rumor or fact. Wouldn't be the first time I heard something like that, and it turned out to be true... Going all the way back to M S Carriers being bought up by Swift. But, the rumors have had a 50/50 track record. |

People need to have it, in the first place, in order to spend it. Unless you want to try for your share of the "bail-out" money with a robbery note on the back of your parole paper...:smokin:

When their biggest customers are the auto makers what do you expect. Most of the carriers that haul car parts are hurting. They are sucking up a lot of the brokered freight trying to stay alive. I predict one or two big ones will fail soon. Coming up with the cash to tag several thousand trucks next month will really ad to the problem. "David Hannon -- Logistics Management, 2/18/2009 With demand and rates heading down, truckload carriers are struggling with their bottom lines and freight buyers and shippers need to continue to maintain their communication with carriers to ensure timely shipments. In fact, according to a recent survey, 21% of truckload carriers suggested that they were likely to consider liquidating in the coming six months" Full article http://www.logisticsmgmt.com/article...dustryid=48467 |
