    Default chaining

I ran into a problem tonight and got stuck, pointing uphill part in the driveway and the trl blocking both lanes of a side road. Icy as all get out and when I tried backing out (down hill) it slide sideways almost jackknifed and only stopped when the right drives bumped the curb. So I finilly got out after putting down aprox. 60lbs of salt. (nice guy plowing the gas station lot GAVE it to me!)
What I want to know is if I run into this again can I get away with just chaining 2 wheels? Ifso should it be the front set or the rear? Any sugestions on how long of bungie cords I need and how many? This crap sucks! I only had to go about 50' then it levals off to where I park.

You may have been able to get away with laying the chains down and driving "gently" on top of them.
