Default Stupid people need to die...

Had something stupid happen to me this morning:

I was coming west on I-40, between Marion, NC & Asheville, NC. I was on the really long mountain climb, so you know where. I'm running heavy, so the truck is doing about 25-28mph. I'm in the far right lane of 3 lanes. It's 5am, dark, and no other traffic on my side of the highway, so I have my flashers on.

I notice a car coming up on me FAST in the same lane. I literally thought they were going to slam into the back of my trailer. At the last second, they whipped around my left side (center lane). When they got right beside the tractor they matched my speed and started blowing the horn. I glanced down and saw that they had the interior light on (so I could see them). The man and woman in the front seat were giving me the 'Number 1' sign. Whatever.

They then take off, whip in front of me and jammed on their brakes, dropping to about 5mph. After maybe 10-15 seconds, they gunned it and off they went.

What I'm taking from this is that these people are too STUPID to realize that a truck, in the far right lane, with their flashers on might, just MIGHT, be going slow and want you to notice them. How damn hard is it to see a white 'box' that's 13'6" high x 8' wide, with lights all over it, as well as some that are flashing? Also, the trailer has all LED lights, so I know they're bright.

I almost wished they would've drove under my ICC bumper - it would've thinned the genetic pool.

Mal, you should start your own blog. "Adventures In Air-Ride" or some such.

You know what probably happened. They watch too much Fox (or some other station that makes a living out of peddling fear), and they saw some show called "The Trucking Menace" or some such. Bingo, now it's not only their right, it's their patriotic duty to flip you off and act stupid in other ways. Welcome to Mystery Theatre 2012. No one knows why we present this stuff, all we know is that it packs a punch.

I had one do something similar to me this morning in traffic, I just shook my head and laughed. They called in on me but whatever, my boss laughed too.

I've had people do that to me before, but there's always been some sort of a reason for it, like more traffic (instead of just me and that vehicle), fog, rain, whatever. This morning was a crystal clear morning, no fog, no traffic - nothing. And in the stretch where it all happened, it was a straight section of highway, where they could see me for a good 1/2-3/4 mile. And to get mad at me because I'm slow - no Duhhh - I'm grossing 78,000lbs climbing a 6% grade for over 6 miles. Not to mention that they had 2 empty lanes to choose from...

Prolly just a couple of straight retards. At least they didn't hit you then they would have turned around and sued. Everyone knows you were at fault for going so slow up a hill. Don't ya know, you got in their way, that was THEIR lane you were in.

Ahem. Dude? To be that out of touch with people that work for a living, I'm thinking a Romney sticker.

I don't remember seeing any bumper stickers, but I'm thinking if there was one (and they're that far out of touch), it would be a green leaf

Hey, just think about it this way... If they DID remove themselves from the gene pool via your trailer's ICC bumper, you'd have one heck of a stack of paperwork to fill out. Do you really want writer's cramp (and being charged for a late load because of the delays of havin' to talk to ol' Smokey Bear and friends)?

Get a dash mounted camera with high resolution. This way you can turn them in. Very good thing to have in the truck these days.
I can use power tools, and I'll think about doing your dry cleaning if the rates are good.

I used to have one hooked to my laptop, but it was causing the computer to overheat.
