Default I think I'll launch a Hoboesque diatribe on religion

Don't the kind folks that run this forum know that to be in media is to be in show business and the worst sin in show business is to let people get bored?

I'm starting to feel like I should do something to chip in and try to liven this place up a little.

Edit: Hobo - oops, I forgot that you've mentioned that your dad is religious. I wasn't talking about that. I was just threatening to formulate a thesis.

Question? Is it just my imagination or were religious people on the side of the poor just a few years ago?

Gee, I hope I didn't miss anything while my computer was throwing a tantrum last night.

You can let 'er rip, Michigan, if you want to go thru what I've been thru with a few on here.

Don't let my Dad get in the way. I am perfectly at ease with honoring HIS "true" belief and commitment to his faith... while espousing my own theories of how my upbringing amounts to what I have coined as "religious abuse."

    Now, you know...

You could have brought up "ANCIENT ALIENS", like it was both scientific and Biblical fact. They're on the "HISTORY CHANNEL" down here all the time. And regardless if their suppositions come from the left field of the gamma quadrant on STAR TREK, the avidence they present to support their position comes from real places on this earth. It might make Hobo a contributer, rather than rational opposition....

This might be far fetched but I think the problem with modern religion in the US started with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn and anyone else that played religious people in the old movies. Who's the icon from recent history for religious folks to try and emulate? Jerry Falwell?

More likely, Jim Baker.... (although, I have heard very little about him lately)

The answer to the question is... Tim Tebow. More later.

Noooooo! Tim Tebow is ruining one of my other sites. Causing all sorts of fights between mods, admins, and users. It's ugly. "The Chosen One" is a homewrecker!

Nor what "Freebird" and "Turn the Page" really SOUND like... or what they mean?

You haven't been overwhelmed by the brilliant colors of a stand of Aspen in the fall, while surrounded by the cacophony of silence in the natural world?

You've never been able to step outside yourself, and see your own actions and responses in a social situation from a more "enlightened" viewpoint?

    But... I digress.

I'm sorry... did I miss it? Was THIS your "hoboesque diatribe?" Pitiful.

And, you're gonna start by attacking two of my most FAVORITE actors? BOTH of them were avowed Liberals and even when playing "religious people" in their movies, they managed to show their disdain and "amusement" (contempt is too harsh a word) for religious dogma.

And then you transition from the cinema to the "tele-pulpit" by suggesting that the likes of Jerry Falwell could be the heir to the throne of moral instruction that these two fine people represented?

I want to think you are pulling my leg! You can't seriously be blaming Hollywood for putting out propaganda movies... when everyone KNOWS it is the hotbed of liberal decay!

If you want to know from whence came the religious abuse that has afflicted so many in this country... you should come to, and consider, the source. [or, one of it's victims.]

THAT is not my problem. Whaddaya gonna do... move this whole thread to the Sports Forum?

BTW... the original "chosen one" really WAS a "homewrecker." He pitted husband against wife, and siblings against each other... even to the point of slaughter. NOT that he ever intended to. He "came" to be a uniter... not a divider. But, alas.... he overestimated our intelligence, and his ability to instill "tolerance."

Tim Tebow didn't ASK for this controversy any more than JESUS did.
